It's easy to see that Shane doesn't have the best jab. He doesn't throw it with great conviction, and he leaves himself open. However, he does have fast hands, and reasonably fast feet, along with a strong jaw and the willingness to take punchs in order to land his. In all honesty, as Shane moves foward and jabs, he should be a relatively easy target for Floyd, who is a master of precisision. However, Floyd can be reluctant at times to let his hands go due to his risk free nature, which may give Shane enough time to get in position to land his most important punch. Which is... The right hand to the body, and especially the right hook to Floyd's body. This is the critical punch that will determine the outcome of the fight. It will be very difficult to almost impossible for Mosley to land right hand punches TO THE HEAD at the beggining of the fight due to Floyd's style of defense, Floyd will be able to see left hooks coming and move or block them and honestly, make it look easy. He's so adept at taking away an opponents right hand that it's almost second nature which allows him to concentrate on other things in his game such as counterpunching, and avoiding left hooks. The only way you can really stifle Floyd's offense is by using a jab because it will typically keep his right hand occupied. The problem though, is when and if Floyd begins to time Shane, who is very hittable on the way in, he'll mark Shane up all night, landing sharp right hands. To avoid becoming predictable, Shane can't just try and maul Floyd, he'll have to use angles, movement, and throw his punches and get out. If Shane does manage to not even necessarily land his jab, but drive Floyd back and connects with those hard right hands to Floyd's body, in time, it will open Floyd up to left hooks, and MAYBE even right hands to the head. If Shane does this with enough consistency, and manages to be up on points, he can diversify his gameplan and try to make Floyd become the aggressor. If Floyd is really who he says he is, he'll want to win at all costs, and if he's behind on the scorecards, he may not be content to just sit back and take no risks, which means that he will come foward. When Floyd comes foward he is most uncomfortable, and this is when Shane can capitalize. Now, I'm not sure if Floyd will ever come foward in this fight because it should be close enough for him to maintain his typical counterpuching posture, and just hope to catch Shane on the way in. But I will say that once Shane smells blood if it gets to that point, he'll finish Floyd.
I agree that bodypunching will be one of shane's most effective tools. and like you, I think that shane scoring KD's or even a TKO is possible the main question in my mind is weather or not shane will succeed in forcing may out of his defensive posture
If he can't force Floyd back with his jab, then he'll start lookin like an old man... If he can though.... Floyd is in trouble.
Rights to the body.... And **** it, I got Shane. I'm not sure Shane is the best athlete to pull off the gameplan, but I think he's hungry and determined enough to do so. I think he's too hard to let Mayweather beat him. That body of Mayweather's is gonna be ****ed up.
Mosley throws a lazy jab. Expect Floyd to counter right over top of it in a textbook display of counterpunching.
This is like the ******s who say, "The team that gets the first goal will probably win". Of course if Shane smells blood and has Floyd hurt he'll have a good chance of stopping him. Since, obviously, Floyd will already be hurt.
WTF do you know about boxin?" First of all I already said Shane ain't got a jab, but you wouldn't know what the **** to do anyway if you were Shane. So what the **** is a jab with no gameplan? And I think Shane's record speaks for itself when I said if he smells blood, he will finish Floyd. Why don't you just stay the **** out my thread until tomorrow and you find out who your daddy is.
Of COURSE he'll finish Floyd if he smells blood/hurts him. The issue is getting him hurt in the first place. Moron.
Shane couldn't corner Cotto, but he can corner FMJ? Right... Right... It will be a great fight, but I think the rate of activity SSM doesn't have the tank for. The speed/twitch is in FMJ's favor not SSM's (unlike ZJ). I hope SSM makes it interesting, but damn I think that is a stretch.
