I feel Mosley lost this fight on a mental level alone. I dare say age had nothing to do with this loss. He started off too eager and anxious to get to Floyd. This had good results initially, but this burned out his energy once his adrenaline died down. Maybe it was the pressure of finally getting a shot at Floyd or the 4-1 odds, or some training camp doubts, but Mosley's nerves took control of a normally level headed fighter. I haven't followed 24/7 but I think at some point Floyd got into Mosley's head. Just the general atmosphere of this fight was odd. The constant fist touch EVERY round when Floyd clearly did not care, that awkward and unnecessary hug Mosley gave, and holding a conversation about holding during a boxing match? WTF. Mosley either felt guilty for something(maybe the mic incident),but his overly emotional behavior toward Floyd was just odd. I mean this is a boxing match, there is no time to talk while someone is trying to hit you in the face. I'm highly disappointed in Mosley, but I still respect both fighters.
He might have got in his head. Mosley was damn nervous, that's for sure. That "crackhead" of a father sure looked smart when he said Mosley would be "Jittery, and when I mean jittery he be shaking like he's nervous."
To give Floyd credit, he was the aggressor and seemed physically stronger at times, but still he fought the worse version of Mosley. Mosley was overly linear with his attack pattern. Jab-jab-straight-right. I dont think hes thrown an uppercut in his life and he really needed one tonight.
Mosley should have had his dad in his corner, not Nassem, this was too big of a fight to go into with a stranger in your corner.
No doubt! ****, Sr. called that right on the money. Also, I think you just opened up a can of worms. lol.
Disagree. Nazim's advice was spot on throughout the fight. I like Jack, but he fell apart on shane when fights weren't going his way.
Shane's nerves got in the way? The pressure got to him? How many championship fights has Shane fought? How many other HOF fighters has Shane shared a ring with? And now, at the end of his career, he got nervous? This seems like a poor, thinly vieled excuse. Come on...
Its not the advice its the trust factor. No one knows a son better than his father. No one knows a fighter better than the person who made the fighter what he is. I think in the fight that was going to solidify Shane's use of the name "Sugar" he should have had the person that knows him best as a person and a fighter in his corner.
Yes I'm 100% confident nerves and other outside factors got to him. It happens to everyone sometimes regardless how often you do something. And its not an excuse, i'd say its one of the reasons he lost the fight in the embarrassing manner that he did. The Mosley that showed up tonight was nothing. Even at his best, im not saying Mosley WOULD have beaten Floyd. Floyd, while less impressive than some of his other fights, still would have had many advantages. But come on. Mosley damn near KO'd himself tonight with his nervous hesitance.
