If this is true, then Floyd is starting to grow some balls. I will cheer for him. Of course they have to fight at 154lbs.
It's possible because this is the easiest fight he has to choose from. Easier than Margarito, easier than Williams, easier than Pacquiao, easier than Bradley. He can fight Martinez but I honestly don't predict anyone is going to pay to watch it. Martinez hasn't beaten anyone to convince anybody that he has a chance. He will treat Martinez like he treated Gatti, and it will look like a tuneup fight. I suppose it's a good fight if he can't get Pacquiao and isn't ready to fight Williams. But it wont do much for his legacy or make him a lot of money to fight Martinez.
I think this would be an extremely interesting fight to see Floyd in there against a guy who can match him in terms of speed, slickness and savvy. It would be a very cerebral chess match I would presume. Lots of mind games.
Yes, a naturally bigger, longer man who can nearly match Floyd for speed, throws unorthodox combinations and arguably has better feet at this stage of his career. What a push-over!
Tell me about it. I actually think Martinez would beat Floyd, at first thought. Nice avatar btw :good
You know people are going to be saying: PBF's last 3 opponents have beeen 36, 38, 36. Much rather see Pac or Williams.
You mean besides beating Kelly Pavlik and 'arguably' besting Paul Williams? Anyway, how the hell is Margarito a dangerous opponent for Floyd? High workrate, but slow with absolute no defense. Floyd outpoints him easy. Not even close.
