You're dumb if you think Martinez wouldn't beat Mosley. Very very dumb. Martinez's defence is so bad, he went the distance with arguably the hardest puncher in the entire middleweight division (from 154 to 168), he also went the distance with Paul Williams, a hard puncher with volume.

Martinez does get hit, but he always rolls with the punches. You look at the tape of both of his fights and in neither did Martinez end up looking the more battered fighter.

Martinez doesn't have pop at 160, but fighting a welterweight that is open to shots like Mosley, at his own weight... who is proven not to do well against boxers, he'd dismantle Mosley.

Sure, Pavlik had rounds when he could time him with his jab. But then again, Pavlik is a 6'2" middleweight boxer who fights TALL and who has... a pretty decent jab to say the least.
Good way to lose any kind of credibility. Floyd was clear winner of that fight. Regardless whether you scored for volume or accuracy. He won, by quite a few rounds, 4 realistically. With the Martinez fight, Martinez won 5 rounds pretty clearly in that fight.
5 were Williams. Two were up for grabs. Now, I rate volume as high as I rate accuracy, but if you'd score on flush, Martinez would have won this fight.

Martinez is a tough tough fighter for Floyd to face. He has no blueprint to being beat, appart from... cement fists and being walked down. If Floyd wins it, then he'll have deserved a lot of credit. Martinez isn't as big of a threat as Williams, but he's a big threat, because... as a counterpuncher, not only is he freakishly fast and freakishly accurate, but he really can time boxers.

Mosley couldn't time Floyd, but Mosley is nowhere near as fast and slick right now as Martinez is. It's a hard fight. Floyd could win it, because he's great great, but it's a very hard fight.

It's a respectable fight and would throw away the Floyd cherrypicked DLH at 154 for the title and money talks away.

Also a good idea to let team Pacquiao know they have a much better backup option in Martinez then Pacquiao's backup plan of JMM3 or Margarito.

Martinez is slower than Paul Williams. Martinez is bigger but so was DLH, so was Mosley. Martinez throws a lot of punches, but has no footwork, poor coordination and balance (worse than Mosley's), limited power, weak to the jab which is Floyd's best punch, is weakened by body shots as proven in the Williams fight, is weak to feints as proven in the Williams fight, telegraphs his punches as proven in the Pavlik fight.

Martinez is good enough to beat Cotto. He's not good enough to beat Mosley, Pacquiao, Mayweather or Williams. I'd like to see Mayweather take the fight because skillwise Mayweather has his number and it would be a way to build up to a fight with Williams to see who the best is at 154.

I consider Martinez as more of the sorta fighter Mayweather could face to test his ability to fight against fighters who throw a lot of punches and who have that kind of style. If he can destroy Martinez then this could lead to a superfight or even a megafight with Williams. So from a business perspective it's probably a very shrewd move because it's low risk and high reward in the same way the Marquez fight was.

Mayweather likes to take on a fighter like Marquez to build up to a Pacquiao fight because many people think Marquez beat Pacquiao or the fight was close. Then Mayweather dominates them and it makes it look like Mayweather is a league above Pacquiao or Williams.

If Mayweather takes the fight with Martinez which would surprise me and everyone else, Williams should take on the winner of Cotto/Foreman and create a situation where it will be a megafight in 2011.

    Floyd fights for cheques.

The Pacquiao fight will happen; a compromise will be found.

Pacquiao should fight Mosley in my opinion. I think it would be an action packed fight that Pacquiao could win in dominating fashion. Also theres Berto.

Why the hell fight Margarito? Thats a joke right?

Martinez would KO Shane. And that's not taking anything away from Shane who is an elite WW fighter. But Martinez is an elite JMW fighter. And when two elite fighters, from different divisions meet, especially with the stylistic nightmare for the smaller man, there's only going to be one winner.

Floyd is more than elite, he is a true great. Which is why... he'd have a good chance. But Martinez is very very good. The only reason he's not recognised... is that he was ducked left and right. He didn't really get the opportunity to prove himself and when he did, against Kermit... he got robbed like... It was probably the worst robbery I've witnessed. Not only did he have a clear KO that didn't stand (headbutt lol) but he got robbed on the scorecards as well... should have won by a considerable margin really.

He went on to fight the most feared man in boxing... who everybody at welterweight ducked and really, put in a masterclass despite losing. And then, he beat up a middleweight.... who's suddenly turned sh*t just because he got beat. Martinez deserves a lot of credit. Sure he fights unconventional, but conventional fighters end up being average fighters.

This is beyond laughable. I rate PW as the top JMW/MW, but this is beyond belief.

I'm not convinced Martinez is elite. He's as hyped as Margarito or Pavlik but he hasn't beaten an elite fighter so how does he get that title? He lost to Margarito, he lost to Williams, he had a draw with Cintron, but you think he can knock out Mosley? Floyd couldn't knock out Mosley but Martinez can?

The punch stats at the end of the fight prove it. Paul Williams threw more punches, landed more punches.

Martinez just looks fast because he throws combos and is an awkward style. He looks fast fighting guys like Pavlik but believe me hes no faster than Margarito, maybe slightly faster than Cintron.

Watch Williams destroy Cintron with speed next weekend.

Martinez beats guys using his stamina, throwing lots of different punches from odd angles. He physically beats guys and I would not put him in against Cotto for example. Martinez can box slightly better than Margarito but he's really not technically sound. It's easy to land punches on his face because even Pavlik could land the jab on him, he has terrible balance and coordination.

Just because he destroyed Pavlik doesn't mean he's suddenly a master boxer. You can say I don't know **** about boxing but I'm telling you the guy telegraphs punches, has poor defense for jabs, has bad footwork, falls for feints, and his style wins him fights because he throws combos and doesn't get tired, just like Margarito.

Pavlik was outboxing him with counter punches so if Pavlik can do that to him he's not a skillful boxer.

He did KD Williams. When Martinez sits on his punches, he has pop. If Martinez hit Mosley with the hooks Mayweather hit him, Mosley would have went down. Martinez weighs 160+ on fight night and Mosley would fill every little bit of it in such a match up.

Losing to Margarito holds no water. It happened so many years ago and now that we know that Margarito used cement... there's nothing more to be said. Martinez' durability cannot be questioned. There are no fighters in the middleweight division that do as much damage as Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik. Sure he was hit... but nowhere near being KOd.

Cintron holds no water, not getting through that again.

PW... close fight. A stylistic nightmare for Martinez... the counter puncher facing that many punches, I'd say he fought very well.

Would sell PPV numbers, It is a massive fight for Mayweather.

    this man can fight.

Pac man is the fight thou, This is the big money fight.

Berto would be good for Mayweather. easier than Martinez.
