You and I both know there is no way Martinez would be able to hit Mosley with checkhooks. I've never seen Martinez even throw a checkhook. If it's an ordinary hook Mosley will easily slip it and land a hook or two of his own and Mosley had KO power too. Yes Martinez knocked down Williams but Williams wasn't seriously hurt, just stunned. Martinez does not have one punch KO power but I'll say his power is about the same as Vernon Forrest had, which is good enough to hurt Mosley but not enough to KO him with one punch.

I think Martinez is good and I'll accept that the Margarito loss should be wiped clean from his record. I'll also accept the draw with Cintron can be wiped clean. Even if you wipe these clean from his record he still does not show he has the boxing technique to be a skillful counter puncher.

Pavlik was countering his jab with a counter jab. This is as basic as it gets and he couldn't even deal with the jab contest. He also still telegraphs his punches so even if he does have power and does throw combos somebody like Mosley would see it, Williams obviously was able to time his punches because of his telegraphed movements and win the exchanges (this was key to Williams winning the fight), and Mayweather would just pick him apart.

Mayweather has the best timing and counter punching ability in all of boxing. Style wise this is going to be a nightmare fight for Martinez.

Bradley is the most difficult fight stylewise. There is a reason nobody has been able to beat him. He has insane stamina, he has speed, he has footwork, he has great technical skills as a boxer second only to Floyd.

Bradley is the best technical boxer that Floyd could fight.

I don't think he beat Paul Williams, and the punch stats + judges agree that he didn't. You are free to have your own opinion, thats boxing.

  5. And if Floyd beat him people would just say Sergio was OLD.:patsch

Some people are just stupid and that's all there is to know. But, I don't care about any of that because I knew Floyd was special 15 years ago.

I don't know how he wasn't hurt. Williams wasn't off ballance... he was just hit with a vicious hook, standing still. Didn't look too good for a good period after that. If this was later on in the fight, it could easily have been a stoppage. Just a wonderful counterpunch knocking down someone who... is a lot bigger than any of the big opponents Floyd has faced and Floyd despite landing similar counterpunches, failed to knock down any of them.

Well, Pavlik has a brilliant jab. He was the much bigger man, he does fight tall. He eventually managed to time Martinez. It's what bigger fighters should do. Pavlik dominated rounds 5,6 and 7. Floyd was outjabbed by Judah in rounds 1,2 and 4 (?) and timed.

In the 8th, the tide was turning back to Martinez's favour. And we all know how that went.

He may have. But Judah gave him fits man early on. No reason why Martinez couldn't do the same. Martinez has freakish speed and freakish movement. Untill now, the one way to beating him was walking him down. Floyd ain't doing that.

Floyd may win, but it's certainly going to be a lot harder than Mosley. Floyd's greatness makes him favourite, but this is a dangerous fight.

I'd love to see this fight, but doesn't Martinez work for Bob Arum?

The funny thing about this is Martinez is already 35 y/o and Mosley was 38 and I believe JMM was 36 when they fought. So now he's gettin' props for being willing to fight Martinez but once he wins will these same people givin' him props now turn around and say he cherrypicked another old shot fighter then? Things that make you go hmmm?

**** martinez... the only reason to go for him would be for MW belt and floyd said he aint concerned about belts.... yess to be recognized as a MW champ would be awseome... but lets face it - if PBF did ever get in the ring with martinez it would be some catchweight bBS or at 154.....

we need PBF to fight the guy who beat Martinez.... he needs to fight Paul Williams who's been calling him out the longest. I still fancy floyd to beat Williams but that's a tougher fight for floyd as he has to overcome that longass dhalsim reach

Well, I give him props on the Mosley fight even though he's passed his best. I would be stunned if people didn't give Mayweather props, cause even though Martinez is 35 he's well preserved.

And whoever said Martinez would be an easier fight than Bradley or Margarito...c'mon.

Martinez beat Cintron twice in one fight, he is faster than Williams, and he hits hard enough to keep Pavlik from bull rushing him. He moves around the ring like Calzaghe, and if you change up on him like Pavlik did, he'll make an adjustment of his own. He took flush bombs off Williams, and big shots off Pavlik. I guess that's the long way of saying, "Boxmaster is an idiot!"

Definitely easier than Bradley. How exactly do you beat Bradley? he has no weaknesses at all. Martinez has weaknesses.
