Watching the fight over here in the UK I just want to say a couple of things. Contrary to what the commentators were so keen to get across, Mayweather did not prove the doubters wrong, he doesn't have any 'doubters'. Anyone who doubts his ability is an utter fool. I have long thought he is the most technically gifted, finest exponent of boxing since Sugar Ray Leonard. What he did was do what we all expect him to, use his phenomenal boxing gifts and put on a great show. The issue with Mayweather is that those who are not blinded by disdain for the man are just frustrated that he appeared to be wasting his ability and denying the fans of seeing a truly supreme fighter display his full arsenal of talent. Last night we saw him tick many of the boxes that before the fight had been question marks. We saw him overcome adversity and prove his warriors heart, we saw him force the action and really dominate a fight and we saw him put together combinations with devastating regularity. THIS is the fighter we have all wanted to see for the past few years and when he performs like that then yeah, he has the right to call himself the best boxer on the planet. I've regularly questioned Mayweather on here and been shot down with the predictable and boring "hater" tag from his legions of fanboys and ass kissers. I'm not a hater, I've just been wanting him to PROVE how great he can be, and last night I felt he did that. As for Mosley, he looked old in there last night, largely due to him being utterly bemused by Mayweather at times. It became hard to watch him get a beating in the later rounds but I was glad to see him see the final bell. However, he showed yet again what a warrior he is and can hold his head up high knowing that at 38 years old, he is the only man to truly rock Mayweather to his boots and have him in real trouble. All in all, a really good fight to watch and a wonderful display of effective aggression and masterful counter punching from Mayweather. P.S. Jim Watt has got to be the worst commentator in Britain. I've never rated him in any case, but last night he was so bias towards Mayweather it was almost cringing. Even when Mosley had Mayweather in trouble, he was still downtalking Mosley's chances and kissing Mayweather's ass.
I don't think it was as exciting as evryone makes out but still take nothing away from floyd (just get it on with Manny for ****s sake). I forgot which round it was but when he blocked with his shoulder and countered big with his right I thought that was classic Mayweather. I think Mosley lost it at the end of the second. He seemed disheartened when hed had as good a round as he could of expected but Floyd had steadied himself in stead of gaining confidence. I thought in the first two round Shane was using the jab to body to give Floyd something to think about and then he just stopped using it. And Jim Watt can **** off. I have a little bet with myself about which roung hes going to call for someone to get pulled out when there is absoloutley no need for it. The counterpunch you mentioned, and the straight right he landed on Mosley when he had his back to the ropes were picture perfect. Jim Watt once claimed before Ricky Hatton's fight with Carlos Maussa that Hatton "is not a big puncher". Anyone who saw that fight was laughing their head off at the end.
Jim Watt was awful, you wouldve thought Mayweather had been rocking Mosely for 3 minutes the way he commentated on the first round !
I didn't think Mayweather would attack as much as he did, I was really impressed.. But i was pissed off with SkySports, i wouldn't to hear what Mosley had to say after the fight..
yeah me too was really annoyed when it cut off it cant be that hard to keep it on can it? mayweather was brilliant no one can deny it
I agree with the OP too, good post. As for the Sky commentators, they were sucking Money's balls quite hard, it was ridiculous. The Scottish guy is OK, but the other guy (I can't recall his name) is absolutely shocking. They also lost the feed during the post match interviews.:twisted:
