I was a big fan of his even before tonight, but I see 154 being as far as he's willing to go. What makes everyone think he'll go up to 160?:huh

    Martinez

he's still a natural 154 fighter who won the middleweight title off a style advantage. Its surely a winnable fight for Floyd. Adding the middleweight title to his legacy would be huge for him.

It would, but only if done soon, because Martinez is getting on in age.

If he was to challenge at 160, he'd do much better facing Sturm, than Martinez.

I think he'd get more credit for beating Martinez rather than Sturm & I think that's what Floyd is looking for

i think 160 is too much for floyd imo, the guy started his career on 130 pounds, same weight as pacman at 16.

Can't he conceivably fight Martinez at 154 for the 154/160 belts?

After last night's performance, i absolutely think he could take martinez or sturm--martinez would be a tricky fight as he's a pretty good technical fighter, but neither of them hold true punching power like mosley does. Floyd would circle them all night and pick them apart i think.......

I don't think he fits to go up with his chin somehow got tested by Mosley, what more can he take on the bigger guys up there. He should clean up the welters first before deciding to move up.

No. You can't hold the same titles in two divisions. Martinez is going to have to dump that 154 lb WBC trinket pretty soon.

What about fighting for the WBC 154 title and the WBO MW title, and Martinez can keep/throw at his arse the WBC MW belts?

Not that I'd like to see the belts fragmented again at 160.

The WBC gave Martinez 15 days to decide which title he wants to keep. Today is day 15. The odd thing is that Pavlik has 30 days to activate his rematch clause. The only things I'v read are that Martinez wants to fight Margarito, and Pavlik's weight jumped to 192 pounds in less than two weeks.

It's possible, this is how Ray Leonard won titles at SMW and LHW simultaneously, I'd rather not see it though.

Neither holds a 154 title though, do they?

Wow, does he still hold the 154 pound belt I assumed that was made vacant when he lost to Paul Williams, no?
