Langford gets an instant shot at Willard, what happens? The midget against the giant. Willard nearer his prime than when he faced Dempsey. Langford a smaller Dempsey in a way for the giant. Langford had problems with the big but not as big Wills, but Wills was a far more accomplised boxer...

    Who wins?

Bump, surely Langfords best shot at winning the title, I'm not sure he was big enough to beat either from Johnson/Willard.

    Not necesarily.

Johnson got a bit slopy and had personal issues later in his title reign.

Anyway, Langford had enough left to ice Harry Wills at this stage but was generaly needing a knockout to beat him.

Willard was more durable than Wills but was not as good a boxer or complete a fighter.

    Langford would have a chance.

I dont think that Willard would be too big because Langford was able to beat Big Bill Tate, who was as big as Willard and apears to be a better technician.

Big Bill Tate is a disgrace to pugilism.

    No.

He was a lot better than given credit for.

He was big and technicaly astute.

He was verry close to being the outstanding challenger, a couple of times.

It was his misfortune to live among giants.

This is in direct contradiction to the newly uploaded film. He looks awful, possibly the worst fighter from that era I ever saw on film. I take it you haven't seen it?

I am working on how he looks sparring with Dempsey.

He cant have been that bad.

If he was then it is bad news for Harry Wills.

Unlucky, Mr.Wills, because here is Tate in a REAL fight, being manhandled and bullied by a smaller man who only throws really, really, really bad jabs. Norfolk, giving away serious height and reach does better with the jab. Tate is pitiful in this fight.

In truth, Sammy Lang was a MUCH better fighter of skill and finess than that of redneck Jesse Willard.............. BUT! Size might become a factor here.?.? I'm not sure, but I'll favor the well-tuned 230 pound Willard to beat the **** outta Langford in '15....... Yeah, I'm bold....... Sammy Lang was past it by 1915........

I thought Norfolk looks pretty good. Which is bad news for Dempsey for not fighting him. Wills knocked out Norfolk in 2 rounds, and beat Harry Greb.
