I knew that May was already a great fighter but imo he sealed the deal last night as an elite ATG:yep
Yeah, regardless of what you think of him as a person, you have to admit he's a great fighter. It'd be easy to say Mosley fought the wrong fight but Mayweather dictacted the type of fight it was. He's definitely a great fighter, he just needs to drop the better than Robinson/Ali act. He's hasn't done enough and most likely won't. I find myself on his side of the blood testing issue. It could actually be good for the sport. Pac is used to dictating terms and catchweights and everything. It's time he compromised. By following the same terms vs Mosley, I think Mayweather proved it just wasn't a ploy to scrap the fight against Pac. The ball is in Pac's court. It's complete BS that such a small amount of blood is going to weaken him before a fight and he's certainly proved he's mentally stronger than to let that bother him. Step up Pac Man, this isn't looking good for you right now.
Didn´t change much. The fight went on like I expected it. May struggled early, then took over and won. I thought Mosley would be competative for longer but well, I guess age prevented him - prime for prime it wouldn´t look much different imo, perhaps Mosley takes 3-4 rounds instead 1-2 but that´s it. So, why should my opinion change? Mayweather is a great fighter inside the ring, I already knew that. Technically one of the best. Outside he is one of the biggest pricks ever. I can´t stand him. And what still hurts him is that he retired when the ww division was at its best for years and lost/avoided some legacy fights. He can still make up for it and I hope he does. He needs Pac and Pac needs him to seal their greatness. I think Mayweather beats Pac albeit I´m not so sure anymore. That would elevate him quite a bit. He probably would surpass Jones and Hopkins.
My opinion didnt change all that much..apart from I think he would be a little harder to knock off at welter then I gave him credit for in the past. He hadnt impressed at the weight to the level he had in his early days ...still didnt in this fight but his technical ability is really something else. No one is having an easy time with it and that includes the elite H2H monsters of welter. I think he is one of the best to do it and I already thought he was ATG. A win over Pac as decisive as this one would really be the legacy booster...this fight not so much for me, really went the way I thought it would.
He was brilliant last night, i fully expected him to beat shane but not in the way he did. To fight on the front foot, to take the lead and land the way he did. He could have beat shane just as comfortable on the back foot, moving and pot shotting and not put himself in the position where he could maybe have been taken out like in the 2nd. His ability to control the pace, take so little punishment but land at the rate he did was frankly astonishing. However as good as it was he needs to do the same against one other man, his road to true greatness runs through pacquaio not mosley. And his route after that if he comes though to further greatness is the middleweight title, i genuinely believe this is a possibility now. I said in a post a few weeks ago that floyd has the ability to be a true great, the path is clear to achieve that, it over to floyd to make it happen
That's a big change IMO. Taking a flush punch from the divisions hardest puncher, he showed great smarts and was fighting back at the end of the round. His chin is proven at this weight now.
My thoughts are the following Classic Forum Myth has been exposed: 'Fighter A in the same weight class will walk through Myaweathers best punches to land his own, Mayweather doesnt hit hard enough to hurt Fighter A' My thoughts are Mayweather is past his prime himself. Compare how much quicker he was at 130-135 and even 140. He didnt add the weight properly when chasing Delahoya in my view. Hes got slower but his technically ability is meaning its not too big of an issue and he may well be able to fight to an advanced age I already rated him top10 of all time, nothings changed its just cementing it for the naysayers
Probably top 40-45 for me and that's being conservative just to see how it all turns out. If Mayweather - Pac isn't made it's on the fighters and will damage both their images. In the past, lots of great fights weren't made, but usually it could be attributed to promoters or ruling bodies. This one is completely on the fighters.
I guess it did...but I never really had to many doubts about Floyd's chin. The list of guys I had beating him at the weight wasnt long anyway...but its just I dont think some beat him as clearly now.
Show me an example where somebody posted this. I can´t remember somebody doing so. And this is one myth, where are the others? I agree :admin :rofl:rofl:rofl
:good I agree ive never denied Floyd s skills as a pfp guy but he looked like a legit strong Welter, and think hed be live against even the greatest welters in a HTH matchup, althouh id lean towards Hearns,Leonard to beat him im not sure i would bet to heavy against him. Floyd is gonna beat the socks of Manny:yep
