I can understand the casual fan thinking it. Pacquiao is very fast and looks vicious when he fights. I don't understand how guys with the level of boxing knowledge that most guys on this site have would think so.

Here's how I see the fight unfolding. Floyd uses his smarts to stay out of manny's range. He uses his 5 inch reach advantage to make Manny pay when he tries to get in. In the event Manny does get in floyd ties him up roughs him up by putting his weight on him (like he kept doing to Shane last night). He would eventually hurt manny with a right hand and keep on going. It ends in a very one sided ass whooping with a mid round stoppage.

Pac has a punchers chance just like shane mosley had.

    You cannot outbox floyd.

Manny has huge heart & proven resistnce at the weight. He also has extremely fast hands, is unorthodoxed and hits very hard. You can make a plausable case based upon these attributes for the KO win.

However, I agree with you. I think a sensible analysis is always going to be a Mayweather win. I don't think the opposite point of view is as ludicrous as you though.

Pac also has the chance to outwork FMJ besides also having a punchers chance. BUT, it's just a chance.

    FMJ UD

your point is a little confusing , you are basing a mosley 38 year old who fights once a year against the best fighter on the planet, now my argument here is not to say is manny or floyd wins , but to say that he has no chance is clear you have know knowledge of the sport.

Because of his workrate. You can have the best defense in the world but when you throw 37 punches a round against someone who doubles or triples that then its easy to get out-hustled. That said, i think Mayweather beats him badly in a one sided affair.

As I think about it PBF would beat Pacquiao. You got to understand though that these are two very special fighters and anything can happen.

As much as I'd like to see pac win I can't see what he's got that's gonna beat floyd. He looked better than ever last night, no ones ever outclassed shane like that.

pac can outwork mayweather, no doubt. however, is he really gonna do what clottey did and lay on the ropes? when pac opens up, that straight right s gonna be down his throat. i mean he is so susceptible to that shot and we saw how many times it landed on mosley i cant see him getting past it

I am not basing my analysis on the Mosley fight. If you read any post I ever made on the topic prior to this fight I have always said the same thing. I only mentioned mosley as an example of some of the tactics floyd used when a fighter manages to get on the inside. Against the smaller fighter in pacquiao it would not be difficcult for him to lean in on him and push him down like he did with Shane and having that wieght on you wears you out.

Workrate like any other advantage can be nuetralized using the right strategy. Trinidad's and Hamed's workrate would drop dramtically when they fought them. Guys were less willing to throw lots of shots when it meant that you were going to have to eat one of those big shots in return. Hopkins opponents workrate dropped significantlly look at Calzage or Pavlik's workrate in their fights before bhop and their fights with Bhop. It's hard to have a high workrate when you don't have any openings and you are going to get countered the second you plant your feet to throw.

I completely agree with u on that. Pac would not have gased the way Mosley did, and would have put Mayweather out. Floyd is most certainly hitable, but Mosley got tired which Im still trying to register and did not throw anything of significance after 2. If he still had steam he would have most certainly connected more frequently. I doubt very much that Pac will get tired in 2 rounds.

Floyd will KO Manny ..Unless Manny swarms him for every second of the fight expect a KO similar to the Hatton one !

Mayweather's style is simply not as effective against southpaws. He changes so much, he just isn't the same fighter because his defence doesn't work against southpaws.

Did he show the ability to beat a great fighter, against other southpaws? I don't think so.

Physically, he will be against a harder hitter, a faster puncher, a better mover and a better combination puncher than he has ever faced.
