**Larry Merchant Needs To Be Permanently Sent Out To Pasture**

Big George was awful. He customarily took 3 or 4 round off. I always suspected he was just getting something to eat. But even when he was there, he just agreed with the others 90 percent of the time. In fact, they only seemed to ask him these leading questions like: "that's because he doesn't get his left hand back quick enough, isn't it George." Big George couldn't even be trusted to answer a direct question. Lewis, on the other hand, is pretty good. Jones is horrible. Not necessarily his commentary, but whenever he appears on camera he looks like a deer in the headlights.

 

Old, biased and with an empty scotch bottle in his pocket he's still better than Max boy, but wtf are you people talking about? What did he do wrong last night?

 

Actually, I thought Merchant was kind with Floyd. He said that money had shown courage by steeping out of his comfort zone, going toe to toe with Shane. Something that nobody expected. That being said, don't expect Merchant to suck on Floyd, and no other boxer for that matter. Hes just old, and very knowledgeable of the sport to be praising Floyd for obtaining an UD over an old fighter.

 

Larry is acting like what he is, an old bigot, and serving his constituency, bigots. He shows CONSTANT disdain towards African American fighters. He did it to RJJ his entire career and he is doing it to FMJ. Larry Merchant is horrible for boxing and America in general.

 

The same thing most media outlets do to Black fighters and get away with it.

Go look at some of Larry Merchant's post fight interviews with ODLH and compare it to the interviews with FMJ (or RJJ). Look at Brian Kenny's CONSTANT barrage of slights when he interviews FMJ then watch him lob softballs at Manny.

It is what it is. I cant wait untill Larry Merchant is off air.

His entire exchanges are rooted in racism just like Howard Cosell's were with Ali. He has even called fighters "boy's" on TV. Just like most old people, he can't hide what he is.

 

Jezus, I mean, the reason Kenny is nice to Manny and mean to FMJ is the same reason most neutral boxing fans are. Manny fights the best and says "I train hard he train hard and we give a good fight to the fans" and he fights toe to toe while FMJ, with Cotto, Williams, Mosley (up till now) and others sitting on the sidelines, goes for DLH and Hatton and JMM and fights very cautiously and says he's better than SRR.

The reason Merchant is nice to DLH is, again, the reason everyone is nice to DLH, he fights the best, he fights toe to toe and he's humble. The reason why he's not nice to FMJ is, again, the same reason noone is nice to him.

As for RJJ I don't know about that, I didn't follow boxing back in Roy's heyday but, as I've heard, he fought crappy opposition and everyone was on his case on account of that so I'd assume that's the reason.

Jesus has nothing to do with this. Kenny, Merchant, Dan Rafael are, allegedly, a broadcast professionals. The facts/opinions of the fans are out there. I would have no problem if they went combative on all fighters based on the prevailing opinions. The problem is that they CHOOSE to do so only with FMJ.

You don't see NFL commentators ripping teams unfairly or not asking tough questions that are sitting right there. Why? They are professional. Only boxing allows that BS from its "journalists". Look at Dan "The Fatman" Rafael's P4P list. His list is full of everything BUT boxing. Idiot.

Go look at the post fight of Tarver/Jones III. Merchant is at his bigoted manipulative best tearing RJJ down when Tarver shuts that BS down.
