I think it's safe to say that the men of the 90s (early 2000s) that thrilled us in either the comfort of our own homes, or at the local pub with our friends, are now all gone. It's been a sad past year. Obviously the inevitable end had to come but it doesn't do so without saying I'm going to miss the following fighters that I paid so much attention to and looked up to whether I was rooting for them or against them.

    Shane Mosley
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Bernard Hopkins
    Roy Jones
    Felix Trinidad
    Fernado Vargas

    Farewell warriors.

Everything comes to an end. They all fought on too long, ultimately.

Farewell to Barrera and Morales too.

Mayweather is still going strong. And Pacquiao. But they both have maximum 18 month - 2 years left at the top. Hope they get the fight on before then.

Shane Mosley was a good boxer, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and boxing, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Shane Mosley. Shane Mosley, who loved boxing. And so, Shane Donte Mosley, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.

Yeah, the 90's was pretty awesome. RJ, DLH, Tito, Hopkins, Holyfield, Mosley, Morales, Tszyu, Lewis, Barrera, Lopez, Hamed, Toney, Whitaker, Norris.... all special fighters.

Then you had very good guys who would be greats in this generation like Quartey, Stevie Johnston, Benn, Eubank.

    Just a great great decade.
