Uncle Rog, Ellerbee, Floyd Senior. What a great corner!!!

    Uncle Rog, Ellerbee, Floyd Senior. What a great Corner.




    Almost lost in the looking back at sundays events was the great poise and certainty from Floyd's corner. I think Uncle Rog, Ellerbee and Floyd senior sat just behind were masterful.

    firstly i have rarely seen a corner so composed after crisis as they were after round 2. They got a simple message through to Floyd.... just box to the gameplan and you will beat this guy. Secondly listening to all of Floyd's post fight comments it seems Floyd senior in the crowd gave the brilliant advice to press with the attack straightaway, rather than wait perhaps till the 5th which seems to have been the initial idea.

    Lastly the adoption of Winky Wright's high peek a boo type guard to enable Floyd to sit in the pocket and free his hands over the previously favoured behind the shoulder guard was a fantastic call! Floyd said Rog and Senior watched Mosleys tapes and came up with the plan. To work around the Winky template was a brilliant call!

    The Mayweather's don't get enough credit because Floyd's a genius in the ring. But those guys have been around the sport for 40-50 years. They know what's going on.

    Yes Ellerbee! Ellerbee is in the corner for a reason. He aint the trainer, but a lot of boxers want certain guys in there corner for reasons that make them tick! Ali wanted budini Brown.
    It is clear that Ellerbee brings a reassurance and calm to the corner that Floyd likes. He is never flustered and seems to keep the corner and Floyd calm. look at him on sunday after that second round, clear and concise.... 'Floyd stick to the boxing, box this mother****er thats what we do!'

    Yeah the Winky wright plan was definately a great one, I´ve never thought Floyd would fight the way he did that night, full credit to him and his corner.

    To be honest if I was in his corner thats what I would have said too. Fair enough, Floyd likes him in his corner, but i don't see him contributing an awful lot other than rubbing his chest. Roger and Floyd Sr run the show, Ellerbe is just a yes man.
