That's the thing about boxing. In other sports you have teams. Most people are huge fans of their few teams. In boxing most people are fans of certain fighters. Therefore it's incredibly hard to get even an unbiased discussion. You're right, these boards are hypocritical as hell. Way I see it, tho, it just comes with the territory. It's a boxing fan forum, and not a boxing analyst forum. I try to be as unbiased as I can myself. I'm 100% polish and I'm a huge Adamek fan, but I don't parade around saying he's going to beat a Klitschko.
These kids ain't fans of boxing though, they're fans of fighters. Sure we all have our favourites, but these kids take it to the extreme and have no knowledge outside of 'their man'.
A very nice post! I mostly come here to read about stuff going on and the things mentioned here are one big reason why I stay out of discussions. After every fight you have a ton of new threads about why last nights winner actually sucks and only won because of this and that. This behaviour kills every serious and interesting discussion before it can unfold.
the thing I have to give mayweather is this; he seems to almost hypnotize his opponent into playing his game - it's incredible to watch. they freeze. sort of like against the klitchkos actually. However, I honestly think that mayweather has not really proven himself, and also looked very beatable while Shane had some gas. (not fought pac, and before ducked williams, cotto, margo, now is talking about martinez??) i also think he's an *******. his suckerpunch when they were chatting in the ring was the antithesis of sportsmanship to me and my kids.

Can you imagine if the fight gets officially announced?? When the idiot posters on both sides collide on these forums, i think the internet may implode. I think I may have to take a break from ESB as the forums are bad enough anyway. There are about 4/5 posters that come to mind that comment EXCLUSIVELY on PBF and Pac threads only.
I took a break from the forum during all the Pac/May negotiating nonsense last time, I may well do so again. It was hilarious to see these kids become steroid experts overnight, when none of them knew what a PED or USADA test was before December.

It's nice to see a post like this. I have never been a "fan" of Pacquiao because the first fight I saw him in was the first JMM fight, and I was rooting for JMM. I was an even bigger fan of Morales and was heartbroken when he destroyed him in the rematch. Despite all of this, I appreciate Pacquiao because the man is just like a buzzsaw, slicing everything in front of him. He is a superb athlete, who I do like, it just so happens that probably 70% of the time I am rooting against him because I like the opponent better. With that said, I don't understand why it seems to be impossible to respect and like both Pacquiao AND Mayweather, even if you prefer one over the other. You don't even have to like both, just respect and appreciate them. For example, I prefer PBF over Pacquiao, but I also believe that Pacquiao's resume is a little better that PBF's as of right now.
