I think Abner Mares still has a shot, a very damn good shot.

He was fighting a veteran with 15 years pro experience, a world class fighter, a guy who has trained with champions for years, a guys with one loss in his 15 year career, a solid B level guy...

...and Canelo was caught, the same way M.A. Cotto was caught against Corley, and M.A. Cotto went on to STOP Corley in a way many felt was PREMTURE, and Cotto was older and more expeirienced than Canelo, yet Canelo showed better recovery skills against the harder puncher, and better compsure, and he is ONLY 19!!!!!!!!!!!

Canelo was also the first to stop Cotto, Cotto wasn't fighting back and was just getting punished.

Canelo was surprised by a hard puncher, and no more than that.

In the end, Alvarez did what he was supposed to do and KO, Cotto..:deal

I don't think so, especially not after Nacho Beristain decided to stop training him. Don't get me wrong Mares is a very good fighter but the fact that Canelo will be fighting at welterweight or higher already gives him an edge.

He looks damn good, sound boxer, good power, likes to fight...whats not to like.

Credit to Cotto for pushing him and making it a hell of a fight. Actually all three undercard fights where pretty entertaining, first time that has happened in a while. Too bad Miguel wasn't blessed with his chin.

It's all good bro, just don't go out of ur way to advertise it haha!

I was a Tito fan, and rooted for him against DLH (partly because I don't consider Oscar full Mexican, and also I was really just a big fan of Tito back then)

I'm somewhat of a Juanma fan, but I don't know, he's sort of been exposed a bit. Doesn't seem as invincible as he once looked. It's cool though, dude's got heart.

It looked like an early stoppage but the last like 3 or 4 punches really knocked Cottos head around and if you aint firing back or protecting yourself then that is a good stoppage

I was impressed. It was my first time watching him fight and he did well, besides getting wobbled early.

And Jose Miguel Cotto knows how to take a punch. :yep

Yeah, let's see how his chin holds up against a top level fighter at his weight. Getting put on ***** street by an aging lighter weight fighter is not a good sign.

Nah, it worked well for others who went through the same thing and became superstars, ie. DLH, Trinidad, etc.
