That shot definitely worried me. He was also wobbled a bit by Mosley. I've always thought of him as more of a future action star than a P4P guy though, so maybe having a shaky chin isn't the worst thing in the world.

How can he call it suspect when the kid recovered...

Reminds of the time Oscar went down when he was coming up...

Alvarez will be fine he was rocked but recoverd nicely. What I love most about him is his accuracy so precise for a 19 year old kid.

Everyone has a suspect chin when surprised by a decent punch, see DLH, Trinidad, Cotto, Pbf, etc.

What was more surprising about that punch is the way Canelo kept his composure and recovered!

Not only gatekeepers but semi retired inactive former super featherweights.

    Exactly.

Cotto was in worse shape a by a fighter he outweighed almost 20 pounds, and cotto went on to become the WW King years later.

He's still pretty young although already a vet. He's got some major skills and even though he got shook...he did impress. Definitly going to be a force.

He's 19. The kid took a hard shot, recovered, then beat the **** out of a good, rugged opponent, stopping Jose Miguel Cotto for the first time.

This fight impressed me. I'm glad he got rocked in Round 1, to be honest. Now we know he has a solid chin and good heart.

Alvarez was schooled by Cotto and his accuracy is overrated. The kid landed 2 punches in a 25 punch flurry and looked like he was about to gas and Tony Weeks' ***** ass jumps in to stop the fight after 10 missed punches.

    Alvarez is pure hype.

And it will serve him as a great learning experience... As a matter of fact, after getting clocked, he immediately made an adjustment and had his right guard up all night...very disciplined and composed.

He did get rocked by a former lightweight, but he recovered well and made adjustments. He's still learning.

Why do so many people think that having unshakable punch resistance is more important than having good, quick punch recovery? :-(

I can live with a lack of the former in any prospect so long as they have the latter.

Saul Alvarez demonstrated that he falls into that category.
