    This

The first punch Mayweather felt. The second one he didn't even see as he was throwing back. He was caught completely off guard. That Cotto example being shown where he got to brace for it and the punch from 7:20 of that film is no where near the punch that was landed on Mayweather, and the circumstances around it. Period.

Well, Cotto's chin isn't viewed as being all that, but he got hit by a much harder shot thatn Mayweather did and wasn't remotely troubled. Obviously, there are other factors, but that would appear to suggest that Mayweather's chin isn't better than Cotto's. So maybe Mayweather's chin is just average, like I said.

It was a pretty massive righthand that Mayweather took and it was in the opening rounds of the fight. Actually I dont think he was hurt badly by that shot. It was the second short righthand in close that Mayweather didnt see that hurt him badly. His legs were wobbly but his senses were clear, and thats why he was able to tie up and weather the storm. Its hard to compare Mayweather and Cottos chin as you rarely see Mayweather get hit cleanly.
I think Mayweather would approach the fight with Pac with more caution and try to fight at more range, as Pac is far shorter and also doesnt have much of a jab to get close.

I think he would need to beat Pac to be in the top 20. Remember, guys like Hagler aren't top 20, and there are no questions of Marvin ever ducking someone. Besides, right now Manny has the better resume overall.

I have Hagler in the 20-25 range, so it's pretty close. My point is just that Hagler faced all-comers and dominated a division for almost a decade, only lost in hometown decisions and at the end of his career vs another ATG, yet you can still find 20 fighters you can credibly rate higher than him (Greb, Fitzsimmons, and Monzon among middleweights for example). Floyd hasn't got that kind of opposition or achievement yet IMO, he hasn't quite proved himself as much. So I can't really put him any higher, even though I think he is at least as skilled as Hagler, he hasn't tested those skills as much.

I agree. Even though I think we all expected him to win, he showed a solid chin, good resilience and quick thinking when hurt, and dominant boxing skills against a past-prime but still skilful and quick fighter.

That's why he has to fight Pacquiao, the boxing gods will torment him for eternity in hell if he doesn't get that fight going!

I definitely think that you can consider PBF one of the top 10 welterweights of all time. You still can't put him over guys like Robinson, Napoles, Gavilan, Leonard, Griffith, Duran, and Hearns at that weight and fighting 15 round fights like those guys did.

I used to think prime 2000 Mosley would definitely beat Floyd, now I feel that it would be a 50/50 type fight. I was also worried Mosley would look his age and get outclassed, but, while I knew it was a possibility, I didn't actually expect it to happen as it did. I thought it would be competitive, and I was hoping Mosley would pull it out.

I can't remember the last time Shane Mosley has had someone as hurt as that with one punch in an early round. Practically all of Mosley's opponents of late have taken similar rights hands better than Mayweather did. I don't see how Mayweather getting badly hurt like that is an indication that he has a very good chin by all-time welterweight standards.

Well who is talking by "all time welterweight standards"? A question before the fight was; can Mayweather take a flush punch from a hard hitting weltrweight? Answer: yes.

It simply just re-affirms what I've always thought, that Mayweather is a great fighter. Terrific boxing IQ in there to go with the physical gifts. A shame that his resume isn't up to his abilities, although he still has time to add some more important wins to it.

I've always felt he would beat Pacquiao, and still do. But I do think Pacquiao would be a live underdog. I wonder if his best chance might be to catch Floyd with something big early and try to take him out then and there, like Mosley was unable to. Mayweather's great at ad******g and once he gets into his groove, I think it'll be hard for Pacquiao to re-adjust.

In regards to Mayweather's punch resistance, I think it's alright. Not poor, not great either. The first right hand was a big right hand to the jaw, and the second one, which hurt him more, was a temple shot. He's been stunned before, by Corley, and to a lesser extent by Judah. However, he doesn't ***** up when this happens. He can think when he's stunned in there and comes back strong. He kept walking forward and landed some decent shots on Shane later in the round. He dropped (unofficially) Corley after getting rocked by him, and did some good bodywork on Judah about a half minute after being a bit stunned by him.

I have thought highly of Floyd Mayweather Jr. for some time now. This win over Shane Mosley sollidifies my opinion. Before I would say just outside the top 10. Now solidly inside the top 10 all time great boxers. Is he better than Ali? Yes I think he is. Is he better than Robinson? No not quiet but his career is not over yet either. If he keeps fighting the right guys and keeps beating them he could wind up #1 in my opinion. Only time will tell.
