Absolutely. This ***ot just looked up Willie Pep's boxrec and has come to the conclusion that he was a bum. He's not bothered to look at footage of Willie on youtube or footage of his opponents.
Haven't seen a whole lot of Pep. We are talking way before my time and not a lot of footage available to begin with. That being said, why is it always so assenine to insinuate that a modern fighter might be better than an old one?
Is it considered assenine to insinuate that Hopkins is better than Tony Zale? I don't think it is at all. But Pep is one of the most extraordinary performers in the entire history of boxing. He fought nearly as many ranked contenders as Floyd as had fights. He achieved pound for pound #1 status once more after being told he might not walk again, and that he would never, ever box again. He beat hall of famers at featherweight and lightweight. He's near universally acknowledged as being the #1 great in the history of this division. I am all for an enquiring mind, and an organised presentation explaining why Mayweather is greater and better at the weight would be welcome. But "Floyd better than Pep easy"? **** that. **** that with impunity. Melt down the head of a toothbrush, stick a razorblade in the soft plastic, and **** that with that. **** that, this kid is an idiot, adds nothing, one of the reasons this forum fails.
