During the second round, why on earth did Shane Mosley start throwing punches to the body..when he had Floyd Mayweather hurt..?

And i know, fighters wack oponents to the body...so they can bring their hands down.....but Floyd Mayweather is not stupid.

Shane Mosley had Floyd Mayweather hurt..!

He should of just kept, smacking Floyd Mayweather to the head.

Shane Mosley just totally wasted his punches, and his big chance..!!!!!

Mike Tyson or any other great finisher...would of not wasted this chance..!

Shane Mosley was a disappointment in that 2nd round.

Maybe it was th 16 months of inactivity.

But i really don't give a ****, it's like a top striker. People exspect Fernando Torres, to do the job infront of goal..with a half decent opportunity.

Shane Mosley had a better than, half decent opportunity.

He should of done allot better.

Disagree. The head was closed, body was open.

Round 6 Shane Mosley opens it up. The result is Shane Mosley getting tagged by Floyd Mayweather Jr with a good 3 punch combination.

Mosley was not winning the exchanges, and thus, became hesitant to throw punches. When you are missing when you throw, and getting hit back with hard punches, it is typically discouraging to a sane individual who values their own health. Mayweather was daring Mosley to throw his jab at one point and taunting him in the ring.

Unless Shane Mosley is a masochist, it was best that he stopped throwing or he would have been KO'd. Without a doubt.

I thought Floyd did a great job of spoiling Mosley's attack. To have the awareness to hold on like that when you're seriously hurt is not as easy aas it looks.

I thought he didnt go to the body enough when he had him hurt. Doesnt the trainers always say go to the body then come up stairs when you have an opppnent hurt.

    Please close thread.

Also go re watch the 2nd round carefully, its not about what Mosley didn't do, its about what Floyd DID do. Notice also after that right hand to the temple, Mosley landed another flush shot immediately after, which Floyd handled very well.

Agreed. Also Mosley might have excellent handspeed but he has never had the accuracy to go with it.

There was only one point in that whole fight, when Floyd Mayweather greatest weapon was totally, totally, neutralised.

And that was in the 2 round..!

Mayweather's agility and movement, was Gone for almost i dunno...1 Min..?

Shane Mosley wasted punches to the body, and totally in general just came up with one of the shittest offensive attacks, ive seen in about 5 years.

Shane Mosley is a all-time great, he should of capitalized on this moment.

It was a better than Half decent chance, Floyd Mayweather was not stunned.

He was ****ing hurt, his legs had clearly gone to jelly.

    Michael Jordon, Mike Tyson......

    Them guys capitalize.

if u look closely, you'll actually see that the 2nd big right hand hit PBF behind the ear, which knocked his equillibrium off and buckled his knees. the way he handled it was stellar. by holding SSM long enough to clear his head, he was able to walk SSM down (on wobbly legs) for the remainder of the round and be the aggressor. i personally think that played a huge role in SSM losing his will to fight. here's to Floyd, a TRUE PROFESSIONAL.

Yup. Strategic clinching in the heat of the moment takes skill. Shane didn't spoil an opportunity - Floyd spoiled it.

Yea, few people have pointed that out and it is certainly something I noticed.

Floyd had not even recovered all the way from the hook, but was already walking Shane down. Impressive.

I had Mayweather by decision at -200. I believe that if Mayweather wanted to, which he will against Paq, he could've gotten Mosely out of there. Mayweather is smart in that KO's really don't mean anything to him because it leaves him open to exposure.

I absolutely love Mayweather at -150 against Pac.

    2 things would've help:

    1. The uppercut, PBF was leaning all over Mosley but he didn't throw it, he could've loaded with bad intentions and connected.

    2. Seriously WTF, why would you wear Grant gloves, when your best chance is to hurt PBF, they chose to go with the boxer's glove instead of the puncher's. Just not smart at all.

Those 2 things could've got him the W and an even bigger future payday.
