In this thread, please focus on the styles match-up, rather than the physical side. Primarily, how Mayweather fights against southpaws and how Pacquiao fights defensive fighters.

    - Is Mayweather good enough to adjust to Pacquiao's southpaw stance?

    - If Mayweather fights agressively, as he tends to against southpaws, is he good enough to beat Pacquiao at his own game?

    - If Pacquiao is attacking a defensive minded Mayweather, does his stance negate the shell defence?

    - Is Pacquiao really open to the right hand?

No bull**** posts, please. Let's try to actually debate this seriously.

The Only way Pacquiao wins is if he lands PICTURE PERFECT SHOT...EARLY. Because if it goes pass 3 Rounds (Floyd only needs 3 rounds to adjust)...IT'S OVER. My Favorite Boxing writer Vivek Wallace had a great quote from the May/Judah fight: "Zab Judah was faster than Floyd, but once Mayweather adjusted, IT WAS JUDAH WHO COULDN'T KEEP UP."

It's a myth that Mayweather is great at ad******g, he just starts slow. He doesn't really figure his opponents out, he just chooses to fight differently for the early rounds.

I actually think this will cost him against Pacquiao, because Pacquiao is very capable of stealing rounds, given his flashy, high output style and huge fanbase which affects judges. All he needs to do, is stay busy and he could easily win the first three/four rounds, just because Mayweather is happy to concede them.

If he does, that's a dangerous predicament for Mayweather.

The idea that Pacauiao can only win by stoppage is nonsense. He could end up outboxing Mayweather, because of styles. Mayweather has never looked great against a southpaw and has been advised to avoid them - He's gonna be against a great southpaw.

That's just his gameplan. If you listen to interviews of the Mayweathers they always say the first few rounds are for learning the fighter. Like for this recent Mosley fight Floyd said his gameplan should have been to attack sooner so he could have gotten to knock out.

Once again Jack, you have almost no idea what you're talking about. The highlighted part must be a joke. Are you doing this on purpose?

Mayweather is still a counter-puncher fundamentally - maybe not as classically-minded as Marquez, but he still is one.

The stylistic advantage for Pacquiao is the southpaw stance, the angles, the footwork, the unpredictable combinations.

The stylistic advantage for Mayweather is the range control and the potential to take advantage of Pacquiao's myriad of technical mistakes.

The question is which is greater.

Jesus you're clueless. How is it a myth when he proves it in every fight? What else is he doing?

I refuse to disscus anything with Jack he's an irrational PBF hater and USA hater in general. His statement that PBF never adjust tells you how biased he is.

Let me break this down for you. First Mayweather does not have problems with Southpaws. He beat Zab easily, Corley and Mitchell with ease. Pac has good hand speed and foot work and so does Mayweather. Here is whats going to make the difference. Mayweather will not be there for Pac to throw 4 and 5 punch combos. He will use the sweet science on him. The height and reach advantage will play a huge role in this fight because May is going to lead with that jab and move out as soon as it lands which will make Pac have to come for him and with a dangerous counter puncher he will get checked. Pac is going to have to box this fight and he is not a better boxer. You must remember that as great as Pac is he really lost to Marquez the 2nd fight and Morales beat him. That means that there are 2 clear ways to beat him other than knocking him out.

Agreed this fight would be a pot shot victory for Mayweather. I could see him backing up all fight to avoid big combos. Pac won't dare try to jab him into a corner either, he'll just get countered and broken down.

Honestly, I cant really see how Manny is capable of defeating Mayweather. Outside or inside Mayweather is too smart too crafty and too strong naturally then Manny. IMO this victory will be very, very similar to the Marquez Beating.

aight jack..seems like u wanna talk some technical boxing...

first off i dont think mayweather will have to adjust...FLOYD HAS MUCH BETTER FOOTWORK (SOME OF THE BEST IVE EVER SEEN) THAN MANNY N HE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE TEMPO OF THE FIGHT USING FOOTWORK

FLOYD WONT BE DOING MUCH AD******G AFTER THE BEGGINING OF THE FIGHT..HE'LL USE THE BETTER FOOTWORK HE HAS TO CONTROL THE TEMPO OF THE FIGHT...

AS FOR THE "D" AND GOING UP AGAINST A SOUTHPAW..HE CAN STILL GO INTO A DEFENSIVE SHELL...JUSS CUZ PAC FIGHTS SOUTHPAW DOESNT MEAN U CANT BE DEFENSIVE

PAC OPEN TO THE RIGHT HAND?? U REALLY ASKING THAT...FLOYDS BEST PUNCH IS THE STRAIGHT RIGHT...PAC FIGHT SOUTHPAW..TRUST IT WILL BE AN OPENING..

BUT AGAIN-ALL IN ALL..THIS FIGHT COMES DOWN TO HAS THE 'BETTER FOOTWORK' NOT 'FASTER FOOTWORK'

IF THIS FIGHT IS A BOXING MATCH (WHICH IT WILL BE) THAN PAC STANDS LITTLE CHANCE...PAC HAS TO TURN IT INTO THE FIGHT AND HE JUST DONT HAVE THE TECHNICAL FOOTWORK TO MAKE IT HIS TEMPO OF FIGHT:good

Quote is acurate. Only thing though Pac is 10 times the fighter Judah is. He's fast, throws alot. lands alot, never tires, and at least in the last few fights, has shown that he can adapt to different style fighters.

Go to a boxing gym and most trainers will tell u its clear zab is a bit faster than both floyd and manny

and certainly he is not ten times faster...lmfao..how slow do u think judah is man? He isn't ricky hatton

:huh where did I say ten times faster? You spend too much time on this site and need to get those eyes checked out. I probably have to as well.
