we all know floyd has tha reach of an orangutan. when he doesn't want his opponent to punch him in close distance he simply raises his elbow and pushes it to the face and more often to his opponent's neck. In the marquez fight, what's so funny is that Floy has his elbow on marquez' neck and while marquez on the other hand was so small he couldn't reach floyd while in that position. Anyone think this is legit in boxing?
It's more of a forearm rather than an elbow... and no, it's not legal to do. He gets warned by the officials for doing it from time to time but it never leads to a point deduction. Definitely not the worst cheat I've ever seen from a top pro fighter.
He uses it to keep his opponents from hitting and holding, for the most part, so I'm totally fine with it. Can't stand guys like Hatton basically basing their whole career on a tactic that they shouldn't be allowed to get away with for even one round.
same with his forearm.he'll use it and push on someone's chest, sometimes even their throat. Someone on youtube made a video of all the times Floyd used his elbow in the Hatton fight but those were actual fouls that were never caught. Can't link it since my ship doens't allow youtube but people that are curious can probably youtube something like mayweather cheats hatton. for the record,it's not a swipe at him.you can watch the video and actually see.
it's illegal, but he doesn't hardly get warned about it probably because it doesn't look as bad as hitting someone low, headbutting, clinching and so on. he puts his forearm up, and then a second later he lands a punch. at times you watch him, and you totally forget he's doing it, that's probably why he gets away with it.
Prety much. It's a very light infraction of the rules and I don't know why so many people bring it up constantly. If you want to make a list of the greatest fighters of all time who used dirty tactics Floyd would be way low on that list.
Yeah, but to be honest, it doesn;t bother me. Many great fighters have fought dirty and they've done it because they're winners more so than anything else. In fact, i reckon a good percentage of the very best have done this stuff.
Yeah, it's illegal but there's nothing wrong with it because he's not excessive with it and the ref doesn't really say too much about it. You can't really blame him for doing it. It's habit at this point, especially since opponents get close and his left hand is down from the shoulder roll. He sets up combinations after pushing off with it really well I noticed during the Mosley fight. He'd throw a combo, clinch, elbow, push off then land another combo. It was amazing.
if you ain't cheatin, you ain't trying.in the fight itself at least. Meaning Golota shot for the stars and went after that good tryer award evertime.
it dosen't look good but when the ref. don't say anything you can easy continue... In my mind he is to good to use this but let's see what happens when the Pac Man comes.:boxx
