Will James Toney knocking out Couture finally be the nail in the coffin for MMA?

Yeah i'm sure he started his career in boxing later then most ATG's. I think he was college wrestler for a while. I'm searching for info on it.

Edit:He played College Football and was so good he could of went pro. Supposedly laid an arse whooping on some punk. I think the college wrestling may be on right lines.

 

If they stay stood up, Toney will win. As soon as it goes to the ground its over.

 

Can't find anything saying that but i'm sure it's in a video of one of his fights.

I keep having a look. One MMA Video On Youtube the Guy said while it's a miss match he sense Couture could try dirty box to try force the take down and end up getting hit.

Other MMA guys say totally different.

 

What weight will it be at? Catch-weight of 220 or so?

 

Corture gonna get a straight right hand counter after 10 seconds and be LIGHTS OUT!

 

Or he'll take Toney out and stop him within the same amount of time.

I just hope it's a one fight deal. Toney should be boxing, he's an ATG with a seemingly undentable chin; a fight with Adamek, Arreola, Chambers, Hell, even Haye would still be essential viewing.

Like a world class ping ponger beating Roger Federer at table tennis would prove that that sport is superior to tennis.

 

To make it fair they should fight once under MMA rules, then have a rematch under boxing rules.

 

I just watched vid of Couture and he pretty much thinks he's gonna send out a message. James has my full backing in this fight. This fight doing more harm then good for MMA. I seen the forum and few guys are not happy whit it and if James did pull it off it would make a mockery of things. I will watch it that's for sure...not really MMA fan...causally watch.

 

Yeah that's a fair idea Roberto. What i could see is Couture covering up full guard and trying to last longer then Toney did in the MMA fight if that happened. Moral Victory for them.

 

Couture is knocking on 50 though.

Any MMA fighter in a boxing ring would get smashed.

Any boxer getting taken down would get smashed.

Different sports, as Gaz says, it's not measurable. **** MMA, it's boring as ****.

 

Randy is a class wrestler, an Olympic alternate, even at this stage in his career it will be easy for him.

 

It would be hilarious if Toney decked him. Ray Mercer style.

Then again it would be quite funny to see Toney humbled at the same time.
