    They would be kickin air.

And when they got close, Mayweather's handspeed and technique would leave them seeing stars.

People who say the shoulder role technique isn't effective outside of boxing are very misinformed, and more than likely have no idea how to pull it off effectively.

With a year of training, he'll probably do extremely well. Right now, probably beat a ton of 1 dimensional scrubs but that's about it. Its like asking how a NASCAR driver will do in Formula 1, there are some similarities but they are two different sports.

sherk has that explosive takedown that could take down a guy who doesn't practice MMA.

watch gsp vs. alves / gsp vs koscheck ... you will see how a top class take down will do to the shoulder roll.

wrong, grappling has little to do with strength, bjj was designed for smaller people to beat bigger people, it has nothing to do with strength, it uses leverage to get your opponents into sumbissions, and it actually takes a lot longer to get good at bjj than it does boxing, the learning curve is much steeper.

    Ok.

In reality if he can work a LOT on takedown defense and basically staying away from attempts he'd do pretty well, but when anyone good who knows how to set up a takedown in a transition from punching, it's over.

Boxing is talent where as BJJ is memorization, Boxing is infinitely harder.

Judo, Sambo, Greco, Freestyle et cetera is grappling, a good wrestler only needs a fundamental knowledge of BJJ to negate it's value.

If he has any sort of aptitude for wrestling he would clean up, if not he would have to be in it for the long haul and take years to get his BJJ to an acceptable level ala Anderson, who is a poor wrestler but hasn't got himself subbed in years.

It's common knowledge that BJJ is becoming increasingly less effective. It's not very flexible and disciplines such as Catch wrestling, Judo, Sambo or any type of modern modified wrestling comprise the larger part of mat work that bjj encompasses but are at an advantage with strength, takedowns and takedown defence.

Wrestling is more akin to boxing in that it is a discipline that is dictated by natural apptitude, BJJ is designed for the less physically gifted athlete.

Dumb as sin. Judo has had few great crossovers, far less than BJJ and shows no signs of increaesing its effectiveness in its own right let alone in comparison to BJJ

CSW . 1 high level practitioner who is roided to his eyeballs.

Sambo is very effective. But again is in the same boat as Judo.

The only thing thats wrong with BJJ these days is that takedowns are not emphisised as much as they should be.

Along with amatuer wrestling it is the best base for mma. With regards to the atheleticness thing. Its designed so that somebody does not have to be athletic for things to be effective. High level athletes just make BJJ even better.

He'd probably look about as good as one of the top MMA guys would look against him in a boxing ring. Its always gonna be an unfair question.

Its almost like saying How would Alex Rodriguez do in the NHL,IMO.
