When has Mundine ever taken anything over than the easiest route? Team Mundine would be thinking why fight Golovkin when there's an easier path to a belt elsewhere?
Yep, it's just unfortunate that he is so blatant about it, yet even his most ardent supporters continue to make excuses for him.
I wish mundine would retire, I mean he's never going to do anything of note, so hang em up and **** off into obscurity.
Agree IrnBruman....Khoder is not looking at Golovkin....I got excited at the news of the purse bid as did Jeff. However water was quickly thrown on that as Khoder is in talks with another fighter at 154. With June 30 coming up fast lets hope Khoder gets his 154 fight for choc or choc may have to fight a filler at 160 :-( :admin
So it looks like Mundine will fight the Japanese interim 154 champ then, or at least a contender to that belt in order to secure a fight with him :yep Wow. I bet he can't even make 154, which is maybe his tactic - avoid a fight with Golovkin by claiming he wants the 154 champ, then when he can't make weight, back up to 160 where Golovkin will already have his next opponent lined up, thereby removing the onus on Mundine to accept his challenge. Kick dust for a few more months, fight Woods for an easy win, then a rematch with Green.
154 **** againatschand then 168 in December for Woods.he cant make 154 Ash,let the pioneer 3 titles in descending weight classes thing go.
Reckon the chances of the Woods fight ever happening are fast deminishing, particularly if Mundine does fight for the 154 title and win.
Wonder how many fighters have fought for top 4 level world titles having never actually fought at that weight before? OK, Mundine was due to fight Medley for an IBO title under similar circumstances, and also at 154, but that never happened. Team Mundine continue to astound me with the organisational skills - or completely lack thereof. There's certainly not too many $multi-million companies operating with communication the likes of that crew!
I'm sure Choc, Tony anf Jeff are keen to get something set so they know what weight choc is fighting at.....Khoder is back Tuesday next week so lets see what he says :good
The communication between this 'team' is absolutely shite Ash! For the cost of a phone call or two everyone would know what they were supposed to be doing, and not being forced to guess! That includes the fighter himself actually knowing whether he should be losing weight or staying where he's at! If he's gotta lose some the best time to find out is now!
They twitter mate problem is the Jap is holding out for twice as much as Khoder wants to pay......we should know 4pm Friday US time Media will be Tuesday/ Wednesday presser :good
One can only wonder where things will go if the deal can't get done with the Jap! A Golovkin match-up would probably make sense to everyone in Australia.........except perhaps Khoder!
At the end of the day all Mundine has got from this supposed fight is a bit of publicity off a prospects back , it was never going to happen in the first place as Golovkin is far too dangerous a prospect to be messing with when you consider Mundines recent dance partners , this is the second time he has ran down in weight now to avoid a legit challenge but i suppose the silver lining of this dark cloud is that Golovkin ain't been too messed around and we can all take an interest in seeing his career take off as opposed to it stagnating whilst caught up in wranglings with team Mundine , Mundine has done us a favour with this latest SWIFT ducking of an opponent as we can just move on and concentrate on the actual fights that WILL be made ....Happy days .
