Hagler-Hearns cannot be stressed enough. Marvin's decline was much hastened by the bombs he took from Tommy.

Possibly Kessler-Froch. Could've been a last hurrah for Kessler. We'll soon see.

Leotis Martin vs Liston. Martin never fought again because of eye damage.

If he doesn't knock Green into the third row in under six rounds, then yes you could say the Froch fight took the last of him.

Seriously...if he takes it to a decision, even a unanimous shutout, it will be very disappointing and indicative of the clock encroaching on the cuckoo.

    Camacho/Rosario...

Maybe not physically, but this fight ruined Camacho's reputation, made him poison, a bit of a joke and he never really recovered.

    Sadly Resto/Collins

Great call!:thumbsup Leotis would have come out of that one with all kinds of confidence and conviction, but it was never to be. He wanted Frazier, and with the combination of movement and late round power he used to knock out Sonny, Frazier-Martin could have been an interesting showdown.

One of the great ironies of boxing history is that Matt's greatness did not end after a war like this, but after the surprisingly easy win over Jerry Martin, mainly because life changing events outside of boxing snuffed out his inner fire. Both Matthew and Marvin actually rose to greater heights after their two wars. Saad Muhammad got into the IBHOF largely as a result of what he did after Indianapolis, while Johnson may yet become enshrined as a result of becoming the division's first three time champion, winning it twice more after their rematch.

  11. Tysons massive influence damaged the sports image far more than it did any good.

Chagaev was never the same after the hell he had to go through in the Valuev fight from a man twice is size. Some people say Hep, some say Achilles. But it was really just the few punches Valuev landed while Shaggy ran for life. Nobody is ever the same after Valuev. Look at Haye. Even slow Ruiz was able to hit the quick Haye after Valuev damaged his brain and took a notch off his reflexes.

Actually Alan Greene is a good fighter and not a gimme for even a prime Kessler. Stick to handicapping Curling matches.

Allan Green's almost as much of a bum as Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas, and all the other unskilled Mexican "legends".

The Bat Nelson Ad Wolgast title fight is perhaps the outstanding example.

It didn't just ruin them as fighters, it ruined them as human beings.
