If Mayweather were to fight Martinez at a catchweight of 155, would the sanctioning bodies agree? I'd see that as his best chance, since I don't think he really belongs up at 160. At the same time, I still think he'd get a lot of credit, as Martinez is a small middleweight to begin with and would hardly be considered weight-drained at 155. I think adding the Middleweight title and beating Martinez could do loads for May's legacy and standing, especially if the Pac fight doesn't get made.

What are your thoughts if such a scenario were made?

Doesn't really make sense to me. Why not just make the fight at 154 and put all the belts on the line, Martinez's JMW belts included?

I don't think he needs the JMW belt, especially if there's controversy over it like there was when Leonard won the vacant SMW and LHW belt at once. Not much better, but I figured 155 would be a cleaner way for Floyd to get the MW title with as little controversy as possible.

If he fought a 38-year-old Middleweight, yes.

Or if Marquez went up to Middleweight, yes.

Fighting for a title at. catch weight is gay. If he came to the ring around 153-155 and Martinez came in at 160 I think Floyd could still win.

I hope he doesn't try to get the belt at a catchweight. His name isn't Manny Pacquiao.

if he doesn't want to fight a guy that could potentially weigh 160 pounds than he has no business fighting at Middleweight. catchweight title fights should not be sanctioned

Considering how messed up this sport is sometimes, yeah, they could make it happen.
