Lewis is a nice lad and all but he had no business getting the job in the first place. His commentary was dreadful.
I liked listning to him . Some one who only talks when they have somthing good to say makes listning to them much easier.
Lewis is better than Lampley and Merchant due to the fact those 2 don't have a clue about the sport. Maybe you don't care the commentator don't know what they're talking about and score a fight. Roy was 1 of the best they've had.
I am probably in the minority here, but I really liked Lennox as a commentator. I thought he would be around for a while. I read a lot of people's opinions on here that completely disagree with me and that's ok. I hope it isn't true that HBO let him go.
I preferred Foreman, but I had no problem with Lewis' commentary. Has Larry Holmes ever been given a chance?
I'm fine with it. Just cause you have achieved things in the ring doesn't mean your a fit for commentating outside of the ring. I actually cammend HBO for keeping him on as long as they did. A lower budget network with less class would have canned him years ago. He isn't horrible but he's brutally inconsistent. And has never had what I would call a good fight or memorable call. After four years if things aren't getting any better its not a big deal to want to go in another direction.
