I don't know if the Duran examples are apt... I think it says more about how he came in so unprepared. You can't just age, and then reaffirm yourself on a world class level. Holyfield vs Toney is a decent shout out. Ali deteriorated but really slipped in Spinks I; partly due to preparation though.

It's hard to think of examples of this. Usually fights get worn down due to a huge fight or these a gradual decline due to many fights. I guess Meldrick Taylor is a decent shout.

Rivera-Simms (right after Rivera had a terrific win over Terra Garcia)

    then (very next fight)...

    Simms-Alcine

    then (two fights later)...

    Alcine-Santos

    then (very next fight)...

    Santos-Foreman

It's like these guys were passing on a curse!

Cotto may have some luck at 154 after all. :think

"Oldie" McOlderson was only 27 when he showed up to fight Alfonso Gomez last year like this:

Some say he was badly scared by a whoopee cushion sometime after the weigh-in. Gomez won via 7th round knockout. This was not long before the Castillo fight.

    Roy Jones vs Antonio Tarver

Sometimes you have to see more fights to know if it has actually happened. I cant wait to see how Marquez and Mosley perform in their next fights.

+1 I have a feeling Shane would still easily crush Berto but I'm not sure about Marquez. I felt he's been slipping significantly since the wars with Pac. I was a bit shocked by Jones after he came off of the Ruiz win.

Marquez will fight Diaz, so it will be an interesting fight since Diaz seems to have lost a step or two himself. Mosley is actually in a good position, because I believe he is still the WBA champion unless he vacated, so yes a fight with Berto would be good for him to get right back into the mix, or possibly the winner of Williams Cintron at 147.

The Marquez/Diaz match may not answer any questions about Marquez, unfortunately. I think he took a chunk off of Juan's career span in their last and his performances against Malignaggi didn't do too much to prove otherwise, in my eyes. As for Mosley, I didn't think he'd still have his belt, don't really think he should still have it, much as I like him. Anyway, I know he said he didn't want Paul Williams a while back, I think after the Margo fight but I actually think he'd stop Paul. Especially if they made it at 154, where he wouldn't have to cut weight so much.

Jones post heavyweight title, Bowe in the Golota bouts, Frazier was suddenly an old fighter after fighting Foreman and a shot one after the third Ali bout, etc.

Duran conveniently aged over night on 3 seperate occassions, nice. He aged, then de-aged, then aged, then de-aged, then aged, then de-aged. If it wasn't for his SCS(spontaneous cramp syndrome), ATDAS(age then de-age syndrome) AND DTS(didnt train syndrome), PPDCS(past prime doesnt count syndrome) medical conditions, he'd be undefeated
