with much love and thanks from Paddy Cronans faushbuke

    Brian cussack ud james tucker
    Paul kayes ud norredine dahou
    Paddy McGarrit UD4 Dan Carr
    Phil Townley UD4 Ricky Boulter
    Vlad chanchuria tko1 sandor forgacs
Ryan Green UD4 Ryan Clark - Green knocks clark through the ropes in tge 1st with a left hand
    Luke Wilton KO1 Sami Mustafov

by the looks of the card the opposition was rancid. How and ever if the locals were entertained then thats important but that show has the worst line up of opposition since - actually no Salthill have better opposition.

But saying that it was mainly novices so it can be largely excused.

Good nights boxing in Belfast tonight.

Ryan Green v Ryan Clark was an absolute barnstormer - fight of the night. Both fighters got a standing ovation from the crowd.

Luke Wilton punished his man for sloppy mistakes, Chanturia blew away his opponent in a round - but in fairness his opponent didnt want it. That said Chanturia opponent was a late replacement as the Polish lad couldnt produce the medical reports and pulled out one or two days ago....

Several ringside reports from a few of us to follow...

Standing room only at The Holiday Inn, in what can only be described as a tremendously successful night for Team Alio. I had a skinfull and enjoyed myself immensely, but the heavyweight contest was a farce, Forgacs went down from a phantom punch and worse still the ref seemed to think he couldn't continue when he rose to his feet, it left the crowd somewhat puzzled. The main event event seen Luke Wilton clinically depose of his opponent Mustafov. I suggested to Lukes mother Jane after the fight that Luke should box Jamie Conlon for the Irish title on the McCloskey bill, but she thinks that Sexton[if he wins the British title next week] is more than willing to defend against Luke, so good luck to Luke.
Fighter of the night for me was Ryan Greene, a complete "firec.r.a.c.k.e.r" of a fighter, his two fisted attacks had the crowd on their feet, a welcome addition to the pro scene here.

Ardy, were they selling drink there? I makes a big difference if they were.

I was at the Murray-Buckland show in Widnes on Friday. Now neither fighter were local so fans had to travel and possibly take a half day on Friday. The facilities in the hall were so basic that many didnt want to stay for the whole show. There wasnt any drink and the only refreshments were a tressel drink with a couple of bottle of pepsi and 7-Up - that was it and to make things worse you have to drink the drink there and then at the table, you couldnt walk more than 10 metres from the table without a security person telling you to go back, you couldnt bring it to your seat, you couldnt go outside with it - what a joke.

Now I was driving so the lack of alcohol didnt bother me but for the majority there this was a night out - it didnt seem like a great way to encourage people into regular attendance at small hall shows.

A big big plus in all the Alio shows is that not only do they sell drink at them, but they they actually let you bring the drink to your seat also:thumbsup. They held a show at The shorts Social Club [ a fantastic venue for small hall boxing] a couple of years back, and I actually had a table to set my drinks on:D, magic the best and only way a fight should be enjoyed. Too many undercard fights are missed because punters aren't allowed to bring their drinks to their seats whereas last night everyone sat through the whole event enjoying the contests and their drink to boot.

I am not joking when I say that not being able to bring drink into the hall or not having drink available is killing small hall booxing. Muppets like me and you may be happy to sit in an empty row of seat suckin on a chomp but my mates want a bit of craic, few pints, watch and good scrap and then hit the town - and so do I when I am out to be honest.

Pro boxing is supposed to be an entertainment industry not a sporting event.

I can see where you're coming from with the drinking issue BUT ardy did you see that guy with the shirt and long hair (who was evicted pretty early) slamming back a pint of blue juice (looked like 20/20) and standing up clapping and making a general nuisance of himself? He was hilarious.

The drinking issue is a fine line because last night all the home boxers won and everyone had a great time, but it only takes a home fighter to get sparked and suddenly it's not so jovial and eejits start kicking off. So I could see why some promoters or venues would say no, but last night the atmosphere was okay.

On a side note...what happened in the Paul Williams fight? I difn't stay up for it but it seems that Cintron fell out of the ring and couldn't continue?!

Ste, that is simply a security issue. Any experienced security team will be able to handle a crowd - if some fights potentially require a little more beef than others then a security strategy can be tailored for each bill.

Better conditions = More people = more money = the abilty to provide for better security that know how to handle situations like you have described.

How can it be benificial to have people outside at the bars loading up on drink as opposed to sitting at their seets watching and enjoyed the undercards where presumably they would be actually drinking less.

I agree with ya er slappy at the big bills in the odyessy most of the undercard fights were empty because ya were not allowed to bring ur drink into the venue, i do enjoy a good beer or 3 but dont like missing any of the action so a was sober as a judge for both rogie bills :scaredas:

smae in the o2 but the beauty of it was they were sellin bottles and if ye could keep the screw cap on you could bring the bottles down to the seat and the security was cool about it ...was fairly pissed for the dunne cordoba fight and seen all the undercard

As you can see, Ryan Greene was delighted with his debut win.
