WTF?! Golden Boy predicted 3m+ ppv buys for Mosley-Floyd and got only 1.1-1.2m! So...

...Floyd is not the "cash cow" that he promotes himself as after all.

PBF clearly enjoyed big numbers because of the huge support guys like De La Hoya, Marquez and Hatton brung to the table.

On his own he's still a big draw of course, but the numbers from the Mosley fight are a huge dent to his own ego and to Golden Boy's hopes for him, and pretty much kill off his chances of getting any more than a 50% split vs Pacquiao.

I suppose these much lower than expected numbers actually improve the chances of a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happening then, so at least that's one positive thing to take from this. :good

im just as surprised as you.
But in hindsight i remember leading up to the fight there wasnt that much excitement in forums or in the general public. Hatton vs floyd and floyd vs oscar had interest everywhere for months before the fight. thats usually a good indication on how ppv will do. Ur right though floyd has huge ppv numbers coz of the mad fanbases of hatton marquez and oscar.

A 50/50 pac-floyd purse split would be completely fair as i feel they are both as big a draw as each other.

Mayweather did 2.4 with DLH. Pac did under a million. Trinidad did 1.4 million. This debate ended long ago.

I agree. 50-50 is fair and is the best way to get this fight made ASAP.

I'm a little surprised at how low the numbers were, but in a way it makes sense, Shane has never been a huge draw himself for whatever reason, and I think many people (myself included) saw this as a bit of a foregone conclusion as a near 39 year old Mosley coming off a near 18 month lay-off was never going to outbox Floyd Mayweather, considering a better version of Shane was outboxed by Miguel Cotto not so long ago. I was more optimistic of Oscar's chances before he fought Floyd, that was closer to a 50-50 in my eyes than the fight last week was.

Floyd Mayweather did just as much with Shane mosley as Pacquiao did with Oscar.

There is no doubt who is the superior earner and why Floyd should get 60%. Only *******s disagree with this.

No, I'm not a ******* or Floydette and it should be 50/50. Both of their most recent fights did just about the same numbers and both of their opponents have just about the same star power, so.... 50/50.

Floyd did 2.4 mil against Oscar. Pac did 1.2 mil against Oscar

Floyd did 900,000, plus highest ever bought fight in UK history against Hatton. Pac did 800,000

Floyd did 1.1 against Marquez. Pac did 500,000 with Marquez

Floyd did 1.2 against mosley, Pac did 700,000 against Clottey

    How are they equal?

    Floyd/Mosley did 1.2m
    Pac/Cotto did 1.2m or something

They're both pulling the same numbers now, and will continue to do so until they fight each other.

That's how I see it, at least..

Cotto and Pac did the same as Floyd vs Mosley, even though Cotto brought the Puerto Rican crowd. If Floyd would have Floyd Cotto back in 2008 it would have done 1.5-1.7 mil easy.

Mayweather is more popular than Pacquiao, but slightly.

They should split the money 50-50.

You're saying that Mayweather is not a "cash cow" because he only sold 1.2 million with Mosley? You're trying to say that De La Hoya, Hatton, and Marquez sold their fights with Mayweather? How many times did De La Hoya, Hatton, or Marquez sell over a million PPV's combined? De La Hoya-Pacquiao sold 1.4 million while Mayweather-De La Hoya sold 2.4 million. Bob Arum already said that his people reported to him that the African-American fanbase bought the Mayweather-Marquez fight. Mayweather has the second highest average of PPV sales behind Tyson in history. Looking at the actual numbers tell you that you're wrong.
