Ward, Dirrell, and Bute, beats Williams in mismatches. Williams has made a name for jumping between the Welterweight to Middleweight range, but he has no career North of that.

Edit: your "B" Point is one of the things that forced me to make this thread. Nine out of ten people who pick Williams cite his height as one of his big advantages, which is a myth. Just makes him a bigger target the way he leans in.

Martinez is a speedy counter punching south paw who is bigger and stronger than Mayweather and Paul was able to eek out a victory against him. Martinez, who obviously was and is the superior boxer, was only able to fend off PTP's pressure for so long prior to the fight having an array of war moments. Personally, I don't don't think Mayweather can outbox Paul for 12 rounds without having to endure the activity and power that PTP presents and; quite frankly, I doubt he can survive the war moments.

Yeh, Williams has no chance at 168. Guys are too big/powerful and he has no defense.

That is correct but he has said numerous times that he could and would fight at SMW, MW is very low on talent at the moment but SMW is full of big name fighters.

People are underestimating Paul now. If the fight had went on , despite losing the 1st 2 of the 3 rounds i would still fully expect paul to KO Cintron in the mid to later rounds. He would have really started nailing Cintron and wore him out. A rematch is needed and im putting 20 quid on a PW stoppage if it does.

I'm no Mayweather Hugger as the Thread Starter can tell you BUT Mayweather would beat the hell out of Williams. He is in supreme condition, this guy could easily box 20 rounds, he just doesn't tire or lose steam period.

All the power to him if he wants to give it a try at 168lbs. I just think he takes a man-sized beating against any of those guys you named. If he wants to go there, he should test the waters against a crude guy like Edison Miranda.

I hope he learns some defense by then, while Miranda may be quite crude, the one thing he can do is bang.

Martinez ran out of steam against Williams, I believe. You can credit Williams for that, if you like, for putting the pressure on, but that's just not something credible to rely on against a guy like Floyd. As stated above, Floyd's just gonna be there all night sweeping Williams with sharp counters every time Williams throws one of his lazy volume punches - something Williams has done in every fight and I doubt he'll ever correct. It's just his style.

I'm not sure what you mean by "war moments". I don't see how Williams could possibly drag Floyd into "war moments" if Floyd doesn't want to go there with him given his incredible control of distance.

Yep, which is why I think it's the perfect fight for Williams if he truly wants to try out 168lbs. If he can't get past Miranda, he has no business there whatsoever.

He went out on his shield against Rocky though, he didn't jump out of the ring and then acted like he had fell 4 stories high.

Hey, I'm all for that. Cintron has serious mental shortages that see him lose fights against top guys. I don't think he has the edge in him to actually beat Williams under any circumstances. Getting off to a good start is a far cry from finishing with the win.

Thing is, I've felt this way and voiced that many times in the past... I'm just putting it together right now for this thread given Williams having fought last night is all. My estimation of Williams didn't change last night. More of the same.
