Thais dont care about surnames.. if some Thai meets Pongsaklek Wonjongkam he´ll call him Mr Pongsaklek. Dont know what the Kokietgym deal is.. could be political.. redshirts vs yellowshirts or something..

Kokiet group is their promoter, but it has been for a while. Not sure why they had their ring names changed now and not earlier. But it's pretty common in THailand.

I remember reading an article about some Thai fighters changing their names to the name of the company that sponsors them.

Its an odd one, changing your name for money. Maybe they don't make much money fighting.

You think Thai TV network companies are so reach that Thai boxers
fighting most of their career in Thailand and nearby Asian countries
can earn so much in their lives .... ?

Only in US the crap like Jones-Hopkins II may bring 5 ml$ income ......

There are poor fighters in other countries who box for peanuts, but this kind of extreme endorsement thing doesn't seem to come up anywhere else in the world.

"...and in this corner, from Ciudad de México, Marco Antonio 'Con Caracter' Tecate!!"

...who holds a notable win over Bonyongo Destroyer.

The best the U.S. can come up with is Mike McFail. :-(

...Well, that Mexican example would be the greatest thing I could think of, IB. I'm dead serious. I would dig that with two shovels. That's how much I would dig it.

That's also a very interesting point and I was just about to mention it.
