Hey does anybody else find it insane that Adamek was fighting at 174 as recently as Feb 2007? Adamek is 33 now. At 217 he looks about 10 pounds overweight, so even making cruiser looks like it would be a challenge. But what the hell was he doing at 174 at 30 years old? That must have been hell on his health. Video of him during the Dawson fight has him skinny as a wire. He should have moved to cruiser alot sooner...then he wouldn't have the loss to Dawson on his record. Plus Haye wouldn't have been "undisputed cruiserweight champion" (cough, Steve Cunningham, cough) without going through Adamek first.
A rematch with Arreola would suggest that the first fight was close - it really wasn't. If the injuries to his hand and back are true than damn - Adamek would soundly beat Arreola the second time. Adamek should fight Haye, Wlad, Vitali, Povetkin or Chambers - one of these 5 has to be available later in the summer or fall.
The fight was very close. 117-111 is bull****. It was either 116-12 or 115-13...114-114 isn't far off either. Arreola dominated the action, especially up until Adamek fixed his shoe. Maybe if Adamek had been more mobile in the eariler rounds it wouldn't have been as close, but I think Arreola tiring had as much to do with the fight turning as Adamek gettin more mobile. Keep in mind also that Arreola hurt his hand.
Sorry. Arreola won 4 rounds max and most of these were earlier ones. Me thinks your letting those HBO highlights make an impression on you. This was in no way shape or form as close as the Cunningham fight. The score card for Arreola is inexplicable and unjustifiable. Adamek won 8 out of 12 rounds. Is that close? No it wasn't a demolition but it was a convincing win, nevertheless. A rematch is not warranted and would only be done for business reasons. Face it, since we now know Adamek can take Arreola's punch, Adamek wins over Arreola 10/10 times, simply because he's the much better boxer.
Clean punches, Aggression, Ring Generalship and Defense was in Adamek's favor all night. Note: If a fighter is aggressive but not landing punches, that does not count as effective aggression.
This post makes a lot of sense. He could of been a CW by the times of the Briggs fights. Somtimes I wonder about this. I personally think he was on the verge of going to cruiserweight til he finnaly got some propoisition for a Light Heavyweight Title shot being he was ranked pretty good, so he got the oppertunity to exposure on a Polish Golota undercard(Brewster fight) And scince he got to the top, he descided to milk out whatever is left, when he should of moved up. Thats why I hate a lot of Dawson fans too. They all say that he beat a 100% Adamek, which he clearly wasn't....as prooved. He moved up, cleaned out a division, moved up again and beat 2 top 10 HW's already. The man is a Goral, they always have this big guy toughness and get huge like that. A CW Dawson - Adamek fight would be a lot different.
Clear decision (like 116:112) does not need to be a demolition. Adamek plan was outbox Arreola without getting hit himself, not to go into exchanges or try to "demolish" him, and he executed it perfectly. While the fight didn't look half as entertaining as some of his LHW fights, it is clear he can't fight Arreole the same way if he wants to win.
So Mormeck's next? That's pretty much automatically a 4-0 start at heavyweight for Tomasz. This will only increase demand and justification for him to step up to one of the Ukrainian giants, which is the last thing Adamek needs (payday aside). :verysad
Arreola won only round 6 and round eleven. Just rewatched the fight with hbo commentary and now i know why many ppl think it was close. If they were yelling adamek is hurt while none of arreola punches were landing and many ppl got used to believe them than no wonder why they're coming up with such opinions. But if u rewatch the fight, especially without the sound its pretty clear that arreola didnt deserve to win any round other than 6th and 11th.
Yea HBO crew were doing a good job trying to dramatize the fight. Although it makes me wonder if it would have been better maybe for Adamek to clinch and try to take Arreolas momentum away when Arreola was trying to run him over like that, rather then backpedal? It looked dramatic just because of the speed and momentum of Arreola going forward, regardless that Adamek wasnt even hurt. Regardless they were being pretty friendly to Arreola anytime he would land anything.
Huh, yeah I'm a noob at this. I guess I'm assuming Arreola wins Rounds 4 and 5 (and possibly 2 and 3) and that's where I'm getting 116-12. So I guess you score 4-5 for Adamek? Rewatching.... Ok Round 4 Adamek landed more punches, even though he was running the whole time and Arreola was landing the better punches. But Round 5? Yes Adamek was quite active in the first part of the round but for a good 40 secs he was on the run and trying to survive. Adamek certainly proved his cheen is good enough for heavyweight at that moment but its hard to give him the round after taking such a beating. Maybe Adamek landed enough jabs though so I can see how you score it Adamek. I guess I'll go back and watch 2-3 I initially had those for Arreola too but maybe on 2nd viewing I'll see Adamek landing more punches like Round 4. I also thought Round 7 was pretty close, though scored for Adamek.
Man he was on the run , but arreola didnt land many punches. I dont care if somebody is going foward moving his hands until he lands the punches. There were some close rounds that if u watch only once u can initailly give to arreola who goes forward does some wind, but after rewatching the fight like 5 times already i have him winning only 6th and 11th (which lederman gave to adamek, who finished strong but i think arreola did better overall in that round, its also the case in some rounds which i think adamek won, thomasz was working 2 minutes scoring on arreola while chris was trying to steal the round by (usually) ineffective late flurry). , Ill rewatch the 5th now and answer you tho. Wow man u serious? Adamek clearly dominated first half of that round without being touched, landing many good combinations , jabs, 2 uppercuts, bodyshots. Arreola then pushed adamek with his left on the ropes and the crowd went crazy but that wasnt even a punch more of a push, also he didnt land anything later when adamek was off balance ,not single good shot, the only good punch for arreola came later the straight right hand, adamek still came back strong and finished the round landing his punches. Adameks round and its not close for me. Rewatch it and look on PUNCHES landed.
