The total will probably go up after everything is tallied, which would make this the second highest non heavyweight ppv of all time. The only one that did better was Mayweather's fight against DLH. Boxing is still alive and well when a ppv can put up those numbers despite one contestant being a 4/1 underdog.
If it's not 50/50 floyd is pricing himself out to get out of the fight. No question about it. 50/50 of the biggest fight in history is more than he will ever make again.

Days ago, a high ranking HBO executive stated that the fight should do around 1.4 million buys. Ellerbe is Mayweather's advisor and is the C.E.O of Mayweather promotions who co-promoted this bout. He's privy to all the numbers, so his word is pretty reliable in this case.
There has only been one non HW fight that has done better than this fight. Mosley was also a 4/1 underdog and is not a PPV attraction. 1.4M is a damn good number. There's no way that GBP and Team Mayweather aren't happy with this figure. Keep in mind that most people projected this fight to do around 1.5 million buys. Now if Mayweather/Pacquiao were to do 1.4M, that would be a dissapointment.
It's a failure for the most heavily promoted fight in history to do 1/3 or 1/4 of it's projected sales. It's a good number, not nearly as good as was being touted.
Higher share of PPV revenue, perhaps?...or just ego, especially with all the reference to himself as the cash cow.
