When I heard Pavlik was fighting hopkins at LIght Heavy I was like WTF!!! hes going to lose you dont do that you going to be sluggish, I was right and predicted hopkins ud12

A "beast"? How so? Added weight wont change Pavliks robotic, one dimensional style.

 

If KP's mental state is OK, thinking about it more thoroughly, I think KP should move up to SWM. Movement kills him at 160. Movement and tactical brilliance.

KP has a limited arsenal, but what arsenal he has is really top class. A top top jab, an excellent straight right hand, underrated defense,solid fundamentals. Problem is, when when one can take away your power hand, like Bernard did, or when one is freakishly fast and addaptive, like Martinez is, there will be problems.

It's a bit late for Pavlik to... learn a wider variety of punches, but for the most part, I don't think he'll need that going to 168. Ward, Dirrell and Bute are what it seems the... ones to avoid, but Dirrell is pretty naive still, so as long as he avoids Ward and Bute, I think he can win against the rest of that division.

Plus, he'd probably be strengthened by the added weight. I know that didn't show in the Taylor rematch, but if you watch that fight again, you'll have noticed that Taylor changed tactics. Pavlik still outpointed Taylor. Now... consider this, a... more faded version of Taylor was on his way to winning a decision against Froch before getting KOd.

I don't see why Pavlik can't compete with Kessler, Froch or Abraham.

 

I'm in a y-town suburb for the next couple of months working, so i'm going
to kelly's restaurant 13th round to see if he makes a cameo. It really is
amazing how everybody knows who he is around here. He should stop the drinking and get more serious about his career. These folks really do care for him.

 

The way ppl on the genaral were goin on about how pavlik would spark joe calzaghe a couple back.Joe would of made a mockery out of kelly.

 

I'll just copy and paste what I posted about this in another thread: I don't think Merchant presented it as an official decision. It was more like some information and a personal estimation, which I think is spot-on. At least it should be, if Pavlik has such a hard time making 160, he has no business fighting there anymore. No point in killing himself to make weight, without even being nearly as effective as before.

Beatable, yes. But beatable for Pavlik? I don't think so.

I wouldn't write Pavlik off against those guys, but I would definitely favour them over Kelly. Especially Cloud.

Pavlik go up to 168, you supposedly were at 190 before Martinez camp started.

 

Dude, i work out in south valley in albuquerque, nm. Trust me, i'd
walk thru detroit. And have. Try driving thru an apache cord in northern
new mexico. After that, you'll never be scared of any hood again.

 

The rematch is contracted at 160lb. This doesn't mean Pavlik can't ask Martinez to make it a higher weight to fight him again. It may be the only big payday for Martinez can make close to 160lbs. If I were Martinez I would hope Kelly moves up and let's him be. If Pavlik can make 160lbs healthy, I think it would be a good fight and Kelly may have the advantage with a more aggressive gameplan.

I don't think Pavlik will do well at 168lbs. There is too much talent there and he won't be able to bully the guys around like he was able to do at 160lbs. I would like to see a rematch.

Kelly really can't force anything, though Martinez would make much more money fighting Pavlik than anyone else at 160(outside of Mayweather), that is why this is even an issue.
