I'm curious as to what advantages you think manny has over floyd. There's the obvious ones like power, workrate, and southpaw stance.
those , and toughness, chin, intangibles. Floyd's only real advantage is his reach and size. But he's a lot more ordinary looking against southpaws. as per the topic, I think both guys handspeed are probably about the same. Manny has the fastest feet I've ever seen though. Just watch him shadow box, it's crazy.
Think Floyd hasn't had any problems fighting southpaws at all. Against most of the southpaws he fought, specifically the Corley fight, he got caught once being the aggressor, but dominated him. Matter fact, Zab caught him too with a nice shot that didn't have much to do with being southpaw rather than just being fast as hell. Mayweather's fought more boxers, Manny's fought mostly sluggers. Against a good slick counterpuncher he couldn't finish (Marquez), he had a hell of a time. I see Manny looking ordinary that fight. Maybe less than so.
Manny is quicker Floyd is faster http://gamespeedinsider.com/access/the-difference-between-quickness-and-speed
theyre both ****in fast- and each is better at different things. throwing a right hand? floyd, shooting a jab? floyd. darting left then right? pac hitting then covering up? floyd hitting then slipping? who knows!??! comparing this stuff can be misleading. in the end- its about timing more than speed in boxing. its not a running race. and to that end- i think floyd clearly has better timing. timing beats speed. and floyd has timing and speed. pacs biggest problem in getting in and out will be not getting caught as he moves in and out. floyds biggest problem alternatively will be trying to not get caught as pac moves in and out. fascinating matchup. all the talking in the world wont give us an end result though. we could debate for the next 50 years and we wont get a satisfactory answer- or winner. only one way to settle this debate.
they're pretty much the same. pac with his insane footwork and combinations, while floyd has the reflex and handspeed. it really depends on how you look at it though, and how they use it in a fight.
