Fitz beat an ATG to lift the MW title and a top HW to lift the HW title. In his prime 12 years he lost to two men, one on a bull**** DQ, twice to the best HW of the era, one of the greatest of all time. As a heavyweight he resides only 20 ish spots behind Ali, he is ranked ATG at MW and was a LHW champion too. He's the very definition of pound for pound.

Now with them being so close, I can't argue with someone who wants to switch them. But it's one of the placemnts i'm happiest with. I certinly don't understand your anxt over the ranking.

What can I do about that? Do you think I sit with a pen and a piece of paper tyring to calculate an even spread for my ATG list? You have to prove it to get on there is no positive discrimination here.

I hear what your saying about Fitz he has some great accomplishment but i just have a hard time rating a guy higher than ALI who made FIDO BIDO look like a cutie. Thats my problem i will always rank these guys high due to their resumes, but i cannot fathom rating FITZ over Ali.:patsch
I go out on a limb to rank some of these guys high, but i can only go so far.

Its worse than saying George Mikan was a greater center than Shaq. But if you had a time machine and could pick teams you know you wouldnt pick him.

I don't rate era v era. This is not a "best" list, it is a great list. There will be lots of guys on here who might beat a higher man for 2/3.

    Some examples -

    Leonard could beat Duran 2/3

    Burley could beat Armstrong 2/3

    Saddler could beat Pep(!) 2/3

I'm more inerested in who achieved most in their own time, rather than speculate as to how he might do in someone elses. As an aside, who are the fighters whose primes were in the last 40 years that you would consider a lock for such a list? Whitaker an Pacquiao are ranked in my 20's if that makes you feel any better.

Anarci, Jesus, I'm not saying they DID FIGHT i'm making he point that it is perfectly reasonable and normal for a fighter A to be ranked ahead of fighter B even though fighter B might be favoured to beat fighter A.

I just don't kno enough about Little Red or Chacon to say to be honest with you. The only fights i've seen Chacon in is his getting his clock cleaned by Olivares.

I'm big on Canizales, but not as big as some around here.

He has no fighters from the 1850's either. Definitly a man favouring of the so called 'Classic Era' of 1920-1950.

McGrain, you need to check out more Chacon, one of the best Super Feathers in the bursting at the seams division in the eary 80s after Arguello moved up.

His wars with Limon and Boza Edwards are must sees for any boxing fan. Also his fight with Arguello is a very entertaining scrap.

The Arguello fight is good, Chacon uses angles well in it but Arguello is in very fine form.

Put a post in the 'What fight you watched today' thread when you watch it, be interesting what you think of it.

I thought Arguello looked awful against Bobby.
