i think he will go to 168 first. from what i hear, he could get down to 166ish w/o draining too much and that was coming down from the 185 he came into camp at for martinez. it was, and has been of late, the last five lbs that have been absolute hell for him to get off. its not worth it. i agree bone, there are some very attractive fights at 168 right now and you have listed them.

kelly will be able to compete better than people think. he will of course have problems with bute, ward and dirrell but **** who won't? those guys are the goods.

I don't think he needs a tune-up at this stage of his career, unless there's (a much needed) change of trainers. What Pavlik needs is the right style opponent not the right quality, fighting a top guy who stands in front of him could help him much more than taking on a B-level / over-the-hill mover who can make Kelly look bad even in losing. Bute is obviously the worst choice for a return while I'd say Stieglitz is the best since he's a titleholder and can break under pressure.

i wouldnt mind seeing him in there right away with bika or andrade. both seem to suit his style and both would make him work hard. sort of an initial gut check at smw. there are many things he needs to work on before he gets in there w/ the bute-esque fighters at that weight and above.

I wouldnt call it a tune-up, but he is definitely a man who needs a confidence boosting fight (at least 1) to get him back on trace.

Agree with ya on the type though, I was thinking Andrade might be good. Stieglitz would be good as well, but I couldnt see the amount of money he'd want to come over with his title being available with Pavlik coming off a loss.

I personaly wanted Pav to go for the rematch and try to get his titles back.IMO the fight was closer than most people think with Martinez.

I also new the weight would become an issue.

168lbs should be good for Kelly.

I doubt training & diet is the issue, he's just too big for 160 now.

It's not... Kelly was in great (emphasize great) shape for the Martinez fight. He might even be in too good of shape for SMW...

He's getting with Top Rank and Cameron to determine what's the best fight for him. I would assume shortly... He doesn't want to out of the gym.

good deal. well, correct me if i'm wrong, but wasnt the last 5-7 lbs what was killing him to make mw? If that's the case then maybe smw would be viable. but didnt his nutritionist have him at a solid 185 prior to camp? if that's the case then i can see lhw as being viable too.
