The guys in the super six get ridiculously over rated. I do not mean any of them are just hype jobs. They are all reasonably good fighters. However, there is not a true elite in the entire group. Ward and Dirrell might be true elites in the future, but they're not there yet.

Prior to the start of the tourney all these guys except Kessler were living off Pavlik's left overs, or fighters who aren't as good as Pavlik's left overs. It is not logical to say Pavlik can't compete at 168. He already beat the guys who Froch, Abraham, and Ward made their bones against. Zuniga beat Oganov long before Dirrell did, and Green still hasn't beat a Miranda level fighter.

Pavlik will be fine at 168 unless he is mentally gone. I did see things in the Martinez fight that made me think the old "get off the canvass and knock your ass out" Pavlik may be gone beyond recall. Only time will tell.

It was the last 5-7lbs, but he ran 10 miles the morning of the weigh-in and spent some time in the sauna that day.

He was working with a nutritionist and a strength and conditioning coach prior to the fight.

He needs to go to 168 it's really that simple. I think he can make a lot of noise there. 175 the guys are just too strong IMO and Kelly likes to bang.

you're clueless, you got the world regarded best in this tournament at 168 except for bute who would probably lose to the winner anyway.

pavlik refused to be in this tournement. he's not good enough to be that effective at 168.

Pavlik won't beat the elite guys anywhere north of 160. He should be favored against Andrade (declined, imo) and Bika, but Bute would kick his ass.

Same with Ward and Dirrell, and maybe Kessler, too. Pavlik/Froch would be fun, and so would Pavlik/Abraham.

He'll do nothing at 175 because he'll be so ****ing slow. He has no speed up there at all and probably will have even less power, making him an eager punching bag for guys like Dawson and Pascal.

At 168-He could beat guys like Stieglitz,Andrade or Magee. Don't know enough about Green. Kessler strikes me as a simular fighter to KP but with better footwork and handspeed,Froch is a bit too rugged but it would be competitive.
AA would be an interesting one if Pavlik can put him on the back foot but I can alo see AA getting up close and brutalizing him with very heavy shots.
Dirrel,Ward and Bute forget about it for reasons that should be obvious to everyone here.
At LH maybe Cloud? He didn't blow me away against a shopwarn Woods who was never that great in the first place. However he's got time to improve if he ever fights again. Pascal, althoug a bit sloppy at times is a bit to quick.

    Dawson.

All his advantages in size, strength and power are gone at 175, and he's not good enough technically to get away with it. He's done as a top level fighter.

Do you actually know what "technically" means?

I think he could engage the right kind of A fighter in some very entertaining scraps at 168, but I agree he has nothing to offer but a name at 175.

I love it when fighters lose because they kill themselves to make weight. They try to get an adavantage so many times but eventually it comes back to haunt them. Brillant.

Put this on the promoters. I have always maintained you should enter the ring at fight weight. As it is, it is part of the rules and using it to your advantage is a smart thing to do as long as it works. Haunt him? He will always have held the lineal champ and made a ton of money from it. I could stand to be 'haunted' like that.

Can't box, can't fight on the inside, can't fight on the outside. He is a very limited fighter, deal with it.

That'd be true if 175 were any good. Dawson would clown him, but he'd be at least a top 10 fighter with the state that weight class is in.

Besides Hopkins and Calzaghe, fringe top 10 guys at 168 like Pascal and Campillo also moved up and won titles there. Dawson's a class fighter, but the rest of the division's still wide open and ripe for the pickings for any decent fighter moving up.
