Cotto knocked down Alfonso Gomez with a jab as well. Granted, Gomez' only accomplishment was beating an old and shot Gatti; the post of Clottey on the floor made me think about that.

Cotto had floored 3 opponents with his jab.

To me it looks more like just him beating him to the punch.

Stop hit in Jeet Kune Do, which is intercepting an opponent's attack with an attack of your own instead of a simple block, usually works only if you're faster than your opponent, which is usually the case with Pacquiao.

I would love to see if Manny can neutralize Floyd's jab.

The very first clip in the video is perfect to analyse for this -- if you go through it frame by frame with the pause/play button, you can see that Pac waits until Cotto commits. Cotto moves forward with his body slightly, and the jab begins to travel, and Pac dips to the side to avoid it and counters instantly with a left-straight. It's so fast that it's almost impossible to catch in normal time.

    Interesting video.

I think the primary difference here is that Mayweather, unlike Cotto, does not have to initiate his offense with the jab. Because he is equally likely to throw the lead right (to the head or body) or left hook.

The diversification of Mayweather's offense, and the speed at which he can throw them, makes each punch that much more effective, because, unlike the clip above, you can't sit there waiting to 'time' his jab.

    You might eat something heavy.

No, as much as I don't like pacquiao he was timing Cotto. Compare what emmanuel does in the 1st with the 2nd. He had Cotto's rhythm down by the 2nd and opened a can up.

U really cant compare Mayweather's jab to Cotto's jab... Although Cotto's jab packs power.. it doesn't come out fast. It looks like Pac saw him "tuning" it up.. Not taking nothing from Pac.. Good on him... However, that **** wont fly with May. Also, Cotto just stood their flat footed. that tactic only works with fighters you're faster than. That was simply a case of a faster fighter giving a slow fighter a 'head start" and tagging him... I dont know if anyone else noticed but Pac's balance looked kind of iffy and he left himself WIDE THE **** OPEN. He looked like fresh meat for someone like May.. Damn, this fight needs to happen..
