Man, May puts on a act.. The dude gives back to the community.. He and his family.. That play up that "evil empire" **** to sell tickets... He knows folks wanna see the villain knocked out...
Nice post Outboxer...Pacquiao's timing is amazing and for those saying, it's art...you're absolutely correct. His offense is special, just as Mayweather's defense/counter punching is as well. The right hook Pac throws inside an opponent's left hook is awesome as well.
I noticed it during the fight. Pacquiao has underrated timing, and boxing skill, I get that, but his defense is still sub-par, imo. I mean, what else could Cotto do besides lead with his jab? His bread and butter is that jab to set up a body shot, hook, etc. Floyd has it all. It doesn't have to be just the jab. Left hook, lead right, jab, jab to the body or he can sit back and wait for you to open up. Pick your poison. Manny is smart, no doubt, but in no way do I think he's smarter than Mayweather.
great video. alot of what pac does is so quick and his movement with his feet so darting and unpredictable, that people think what he does in there is chaotic , and impulsive , without thought and plain lucky for him being wild and quick and powerful. but there is alot of technique going on in there, alot of great counter intuitive training by freddie- its not easy to go into a punch, and of course great learning and execution by pac. i think the 2 best boxers also happen to be the best at executing what their corner says from round to round , fight to fight. you see it happen every fight- as soon as their corner says do something new- theyre able to put it into plan , not 2 rounds later, or at the end of the fight- but straight away. its not easy to break old habits and for an old dog to learn new tricks- but thats what manny has done, learnt new tricks- which people who dont understand boxing , attribute to strength - and then attribute that to peds. they dont see the technique. again, great video. good work.
Nice post... this forum needs more **** like this. Better than the bitching and moaning and name-calling etc.
Wow, your getting a little crazy. He's just alot faster than cotto. Thats it, he can start his jab well after cotto and still get their first. This isn't bruce lee **** you ****ing nuthugger
:good man, thats what it was like when i joined in 2005, people talking history, rules and regulations, way to improve the sport, informing each other on the sport, debating intelligently on technique, boxer history, etc. since the pac/floyd thing though-its become a haven for geeks who come here for hero worship and villain bashing. people now just instantly attack someone with a different opinion as a ***** , etc- and insult. its kind of sad that its gotten away from boxing people , and away from boxing and become a fan/gossip thing. someone should start a petition , thread thing that we sign to make this place a more informative , intelligent forum for discussion, as this thread is. and the mods need to take control of the flaming and **** that escalates in here- it dosen t serve the site, and it dosent serve boxing. im sick of the same tired threads over and over. im sure im not the only one.
see? a perfect example of what im talking about. an instant attack on something that had no reason to offend anyone.
You don't like Mayweather as a person. Your reasoning for that is stupid but you're entitled to your opinion. But I was talking about their ring skills.
I didn't make the video, haha. Notice that I said I 'stumbled across it' in the very first post. atsch First of all, he wasn't countering with his jab. He was countering with his LEFT HAND. The left hand (from a southpaw stance) in case you didn't realise, takes more time to travel across the body -- as Norman Mailer once correctly explained, fighters work in milliseconds, and thus the difference between a jab and a straight is far larger than it looks. If you're countering someone's jab with a straight on a consistent basis, it's probably because (as seen in the video) you're TIMING them. Speed comes into it too, of course, but timing is the crucial factor here. Just being fast doesn't mean anything -- if speed was all there was to the sport, Khan would be in competition for the P4P1 spot. The Bruce Lee reference was just an added novelty detail, something I found interesting -- it wasn't stated for credibility. (If I wanted to reinforce credibility, I would refer to a pro boxer or renowned trainer, not a movie star.) I also wonder how I can be a 'nuthugger' when Pac isn't even my favourite fighter. My favourite fighters tend to be stylists, pure boxers, or defensive fighters. My current favourite fighter is Floyd. Now please come back when you know what you're talking about.
