As much as I wanna see Floyd beat up Manny, I think it will be another blow out filled with excuse on why Floyd won, and how the fight didn't live up to the hype. Now the Martinez fight would be a competive fight with Floyd actually having a chance to lose. Martinez is slick, bigger, and has a hard style to figure out. Hell sometimes Martinez moves in the direction of the punches, he can throw anybody off. We would actually get a chance to really see how good Floyd is. After watching Cintron slow Williams work rate for 3 rounds with right hands that had Williams second guessing himself I know Mayweather can take him, but Martinez now that has a chance of being a real classic and a possible lose for pretty boy.

Now I allow myself to get cursed at by EB's 10 year old members who instead of using good points to prove their point will turn in to Internet thugs, and shout big **** from the safety of their homes lol. If you got good points I'm always willing to see your points and possibly change my views.

Martinez v. Mayweather is a compelling fight but it just isn't the match up that Pacquiao v. Mayweather is.

It has nothing to do with who has a better chance of beating Mayweather. I personally feel that Pacquiao stops PBF, but if it went completely the other way I wouldn't be surprised either. Why the fight is better is because it pits the two greatest fighters of their generation against each other, very close to their primes (I think Floyd has regressed a little, Manny still astronomically high on his learning curve), in a compelling offence vs. defence battle. The two, both style and personality-wise, are polar opposites, and with both of them in or around their primes - we don't get to see this often.

Add to this that there has been considerable back and forth for over a year now.

Plus, the only way this is a "better" fight is if Martinez can win and Pacquiao can't. Therefore Pac will lose to Mayweather and he can still fight Martinez afterwards anyway, non?

Martinez has a good chance imo. It even may be Martinez has a better chance than Pac, but it's about the fight the whole boxing world is waiting for.
And I still think Pac's going to win it.

I find that match-up as intriguing if not more so. I'm interested to see if Pac has a shot with Floyd but in my head I'm all ready to bet on Mayweather and with Martinez, I have trouble really imagining what the clash of styles would be like. Big risk, could be very interesting even though I doubt it would happen.

But Floyd is not too big for Manny? Get outta here... Martinez is NOT a legit MW and ABSOLUTELY NOT a physical fighter with any kind of one punch KO power, and he could make 152 pounds if Floyd wants a catchweight, no problem. On the other hand, when you hear writers reporting Floyd had problems making 147 (before Marquez) and you see him push Mosley around and hurt him, it's a sign Mayweather became a very solid welter and a more physical fighter (in his last 3 actually).

Of course Floyd-Martinez is a much better fight, it's 60-40 in favor of Money, while Floyd-Pac is like 75-25, a one-sided fight and a mismatch after 6 rounds.

Let's have Martinez vs Marg, Williams first and Floyd vs Pac, then let's see if it's a possible good fight.

IMO, Mayweather already proved himself by fighting & beating Mosley..
Anything else is just icing on the cake.

As of right now, Manny is the only opponent that truly deserves the shot.
As much as I like & follow both Martinez and Williams, They will prob have to take a number.

Williams and Martinez provide a stiffer challenge to Floyd than Manny would.

We've all got a pretty good idea of what Floyd would do to Manny, and how easy he would handle him. But Williams and Martinez may present problems he's never faced before, and bring out the best in him

the title of your thread ''I'm I the only one who thinks Mayweather v Martinez is the better fight?'' - yeah you probably are!

No doubt it would be a good fight, and it would probably prove a tougher fight for PBF (as i think would Paul Williams),but at this stage EVERYONE wants to see Manny vs Mayweather. By all means take on Martinez, but only after Pacv please

What is this Martinez too big crap? Martinez doesn't use his weight in fights, or very rarely does. He rarely went near Pavlik for a long period of time and he ellected to slug with Williams because he didn't have a choice.

He would try and box Floyd and lose in a snore bore.

Bring on Pacquiao without anymore bull****!!!!!
