A few thoughts on the Pacquiao Double Standard

• If Floyd were talking about fighting Margarito, or the winner of Foreman vs. Cotto he'd be crucified.

• If Floyd even tried to convince us that by taking a blood test today, he would need until June 6th to recover, he would be written off and taken to the looney bin.

• If Floyd asked his Mother for permission, or used his mother as an excuse not to fight, he would be ridiculed.

1. That is true for both Pac and PBF. Look at the threads. OVERWHELMING majority is saying that Margarito does not deserve it and should be in prison. Yes there are people saying the fight would be entertaining but that is because STYLES make fight. Pac + Marg = slugfest. PBF + Marg = skillful beatdown.

3. Cultural. Not sure where Mayweather's mother or his relationship, but there are many athletes in America that heeds their mother, grandmother or aunt's advice - especially if they grew up with an absentee father.

And if I was PBF, I would follow his father's advice in the ring and follow his mother, aunt or grandmother outside.

Whoever Floyd fights he's going to make them look bad ....and after its done ,its so easy to pinpoint an excuse....this will go,on and on until he loses ...then he may get the haters respect.

 

Posts like this is what cause the double standards.

Most people on this board are quite objective. It's just some aren't with regards to certain fighters (Pac and Floyd mainly as they are the two biggest stars in boxing today). This would be bearable and would eventually die of if people just ignored these biased idiots but they don't. Posters like the OP bait them, riling up these opposition fans who in turn respond with equally stupid, ill-thought out posts and a tit-for-tat childish internet argument starts.

The saddest part about it all is that because of the fans of the other fighter, other posters end up unnecessarily hating and disrespecting that fighter.
