How well do you think Bute does in these matches?

Bute wanted to make a statement against Andrade and his strategy was to let him come close to deliver his left hook and left uppercut. Against Miranda, his coach told that the strategy was to control the center of the ring because Miranda doesn't fight well backwards.

I can't figure how you see Kessler winning against Bute after Calzaghe and Ward showed the way to do it. Kessler just doesn't know what to do against a southpaw.

Erhm Kessler doesn't know how to fight against fighters throwing punches from odd angles. Kessler has had plenty of sparring with southpaw Mads Larsen, who was amongst the top of the division when they were stable mates. Beyer was a southpaw and Kessler knocked him out in third round.

I will reserve judgement on these fights. Fighting Ward, Abraham, Dirrel and Kessler is nothing like a gimme defence against Miranda. Green I don't know much about, but I think he has some potential.

The road to beat Kessler has been showed. Bute just has to take it. Beyer and Larsen were at the top of the division at a time where it as pretty weak. Éric Lucas was the champion and was stolen against Beyer, remember? We're not talking of the same fighter caliber here.

What I saw from Kessler in his last 2 fights, especially his poor landing % against Froch won't change my mind. Kessler is not the same fighter he was before.

Bute is a good fighter, but he's will not be able to execute the same gameplan as Ward did and Calzaghe did. Bute has a different toolset (not worse, just different) and he'll have to use the weapons at his disposal.

He's at a reach disadvantage against most of the fighters in the super six. When fighting a lower echelon fighter like Miranda this does not matter. When he's fighting a fighter with better speed and reach than him, better technique and fundamentals than Miranda and comparable athleticism like Dirrell, he'll have a very different fight. He'll not be able to take his time and pick his shots like he did against Andrade in the second fight and against Miranda. This is when he'll get tested and we'll see what he's made of.

We all saw Bute get knocked all around the ring like a Ragdoll by that Andrade guy round 12 first fight. I'm sorry but i'm not impressed. :bbb

Ward - About a 50/50 fight. Bute is a bit stronger, and Ward has never faced a good southpaw before, but Ward's as good as anyone at making adjustments. I see a highly tactical bout where the decision could end up being based on the preference of the judges - Ward's higher volume versus Bute's greater accuracy and harder punching. Ward-Bute is one of the best fights that could be made in boxing, and I really hope it happens after the Super Six is over.

Kessler - At this point in their careers, Bute would take it without much of a problem. He's too shifty to get caught with kessler's straightforward attacks, and Bute has a decent speed advantage at this point as well. Kessler's definitely on the way down. Also, as noted, Kessler has trouble with southpaws. Three years ago, I would have picked Kessler though.

Froch - Froch's only chance is to hope Bute gasses out like he did against Andrade. This has always been a horrible style matchup for Froch.

Abraham - Bute easy. He'd follow Dirrell's game plan to a tee and do pretty much the same thing.

Dirrell - Probably the toughest style matchup for Bute of the bunch, but Dirrell is also pretty inconsistent. The wild card is how well Bute can handle a southpaw, since he's never faced a good one either. Dirrell has edges in speed and reach, and I can see Dirrell playing a game of keep away. I'd probably slightly favor Bute, but if Dirrell is on the top of his game, he could dominate Bute. He's the only one with the potential to make Bute actually look bad.

Green - This is a joke, right? Bute would make Green look like an amateur.

Bute is still improving. His toolset is not set in stone. After the first Andrade fight, people were saying he had no inside game. Within a year, he developped a couple of devastating short punches. If he fights Kessler, he will learn whatever is needed to win. On the other hand, Kessler is not improving, he's getting worse. That's why I choose bute to win against him. One guy improving and able to adapt, the other not.

I would not be so sure against Ward and Dirrell, they bring completely different challenges. But as I said before, Bute also bring some new challenges to them.
