Mayweather & Pacquiao are the last elite fighters of this era. Do you think there is any truth to that statement, thats what im saying, i dont say that with pride as im a Boxing fan but i dont see many fighters on the horizon capable of reaching that level, particularly as the standard seems to have suffered with drop of popularity in the U.S, although Ward has the talent he still has a lot to prove he can be on that level.

The elite of yester year has or is dying out, Pac, Mayweather being the last, Mosley, DLH, Tito, Barrera, Morales, Holy, Hopkins etc being the old guard.

Potentially i would say Gamboa, Lopez, Dirrell, Porter, Guerrero, Jacobs, Rigondeaux are some of the better prospects that you could pin your hopes on, however im skeptical about some of these guys, particularly Dirrell, as even though he has the talent he seems to lack the mental strength imo

    Thoughts............

To me Wlad has never been elite, VK you could make an argument for, although you could argue he never beat another elite fighter to prove he was one, of coarse you could bring up the Lewis loss but..........

If you *******s think a guy with no jab, short arms, **** poor defense and limited will beat a elite technician like PBF you're kidding yourself. People like you who don't look at the technical aspects of boxing will forever be left looking stupid in the end. PBF is the best most complete fighter Pac has ever faced. He's juts as fast if not faster and is just as athletic but he's longer and stronger he's also a counter puncher makes few mistakes and is the best defensive fighter of this era combined with a being a ring general with a high IQ. You have a recipe for disaster for Pac but you still don't see it. It amazes me that guys like you can be so blind even when staring in the face of defeat. Historically speaking elite defensive counter punchers like PBF have owned elite aggressive pressure fighters like Pac but I guess that doesn't matter either? Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships and come fight night you'll find this out but by then it will be too late

I dont know what this has to do with a potential fight between the two, im not a Pacquiao fan either, i just thought it was pretty much accepted that he (Pacquiao) was an elite fighter since he has wins over first ballot HOF's, Mayweather is better imo but Pacquiao is still an elite fighter, as he has the record to prove it.

I assume you'll be putting your house, car, wife and kids on PBF then?

Vegas odds will likely be pretty close to even, slight edge to Floyd

I dont think there is a lot he can do as he does not have the opposition out there to differentiate himself as an elite fighter, plus without that type of opponent we cant eradicate (in our minds)what has happened to him in past against Brewster Purrity, sure he has improved a lot since then but we have no way of judging just HOW far he has come since then, i mean is that ever capable of happening again with a fighter who has some dog in them who is going to put it on him? Peter had him down when they fought and Peter is not exactly Joe Frazier.

Its not his fault, he is a victim of the division imo.

I would say Ward has the talent and most importantly the mental focus to but we need to find out whether him getting dropped early in his career is going to be a factor in whether he forfills his potential.

I hope Berto can develop into something.

If Haye fights Klit he has potential to throw himself into elite status but he plans to retire by 31 so wont be long lived.

There's a lot of up and comers, but none that you can see taking Floyd's and Pac's thrones anytime soon.

Yeah but anybody who beats the number 1 super middle, should definately be considered a future star. He was dirty in the fight, but so is many fighters.
