Sure Pac has a shot. He is a great boxer in his own right. Pac has 2 big problems imo. First is size, He does not have the size to close the distance between himself and PBF in a smart manner. Second is style, Marquez was always a bad match up for him b/c as freddie roach says he is a counter puncher. And Pac is open to a straight right, Morales, Marquez and even Clottey to an extent showed you that. Mayweather is the best counter puncher Pac will have ever faced and he has the straight right hand from hell, which will also be the best right hand Pac has ever seen.

But if there is any 5'6 fighter with short arms to defeat PBF it would be Pac.

Nobody can categorically say Pacquiao has faster hands.

Mayweather doesn't throw combinations enough to really gauge his hanspeed at 147 (and certainly not the 6-7 punch flurries which people use as proof of Pacquiao's handspeed), but this doesn't mean he is slower just because he throws less.

Easy fight for Floyd. Pac's chances appear to be high because of all his fans and how great floyd is at making people hate him.

Mayweather, but you can't count Pacquaio out like that.

People like to bring up that Floyd struggles with southpaws despite dominating all of them.

The closest style type fight you can compare them to is JMM-Pac.

JMM's countering and timing slowed Pac down big time, he's arguably won both fights (I have them 1-1).

Pac's unorthodox style of punching can give him angles but I don't think his angles will be much of a factor. Maywaether will force him on the back foot, and I don't feel Pacquaio hits harder than Mosley, unless he snags him with what he called the hardest punch he's every thrown (ala Hatton).

Which I don't think will happen.

I pick Mayweather to win a 8-4 9-3 UD, but Pacquaio is still a live fighter, he could overwhelm Floyd, keep Floyd thinking and not throwing enough.

I just see the factors who does what better favoring Mayweather.

And most would agree Mayweather wins, and most Pacquaio use to agree Mayweather wins, although quite a few of them have changed their minds.

Manny certainly has a reasonable chance.

I think a big issue is the fact that throughout boxing history, the large majority of fighters who we consider to be 'great' have been African-Americans. So Floyd Mayweather fits the 'great fighter' archetype. Manny Pacquaio does not. This is significant because I think it has affected people's perceptions of Manny's chances.

Manny and Floyd are different fighters. Neutrals or casuals will always opt for the comfortable and familar choice - the traditional archetype.

hi there newbie, they both hav advantages but overall mayweather is the better boxer, as he has defensive capabilities better than pacmans offense and his offense is better than pacs defense

i think pac is a lil faster and throws his punches in combinations and he is a southpaw. will be a good fight if its made

I don't think too many people support Floyd because he's black. Emmanuel is the one with a **** load of fans by default due to the country he's from. Some of them even call him "The Greatest".

Personally I believe Mayweather will win a fairly wide decision, but Pac definitely has a chance. He's too good to be counted out, but I think Floyd has better defence and is at least equal in speed, and possibly after surviving some scares like he did against Mosley, Floyd will begin to take over the fight and win on points.

    It goes like this.

Pacquiao can knock floyd out. Pacquiao can outbox floyd.

Floyd can outbox Pac. Floyd is not likely to knock out floyd.

It's almost even money on these fighters.

I agree, it's unlikely Floyd knocks himself out.
