It'd be quite a tragedy if Cotto makes the HOF while Castillo is left out. Not saying Castillo necessarily deserves it, but he was certainly a better fighter than Cotto, for my money.

Marquez only moved up that high because Mayweather and Calzaghe retired. 34 or 35 year old fighters are not at their peak when they've been fighting as long as Marquez had been, and when they've had that many fights. He wasn't shot or anything, but he definately wasn't in his prime. Mosley went from unranked p4p to no.5 to no.2 after he fought Cotto. Are you going to tell me he was still in his prime up to the Margarito fight?

I know about JMM, and i agree. I dont think it was a bad choice for a tuneup for PBF though. Although he coulda tried for 140 instead of 146. But my point anyway, is, that this statement isnt valid. And yes Hattton had more success at 140 but at that point in his career, he lost his 0, and also startedgoing up than down which is hard on anyone, let alone a guy who cut about 40 lbs before each fight. that starts to get harder to do as you age as well. all in all i just disagree with the points made in this post cuz it goes both ways

 

Again, then that means Mosley was still in his prime up until the Mayweather fight according to your logic. Hopkins must've been prime all the up to the Jones fight as well if we go by this logic.

Even still, he wouldn't have been elevated from no.3 if Mayweather hadn't retired. He still moved up from no.3 because of a retirement.
