Khan - "I've knocked a few of them down as well, wearing 14 to 16 ounce gloves"

An extract of an interview with Amir Khan by SkySports.

"They looked after us so well in Vancouver, gave us a gym, locked the doors for us and the gym was so quiet.

"In the Wild Card, when we train and spar, there's about 60 or 70 people because Freddie allowed everyone to come in and watch.

"Sparring's gone really well, the best I've had I think. I've sparred with a lot of guys and my sparring partners themselves have said 'You're hitting a lot harder and you're more patient, picking the right shots at the right time'.

"I've knocked a few of them down as well, wearing 14 to 16 ounce gloves, and to knock them down with them wearing headgear just shows the power that's developing.

"My speed's there as well and I just feel sharp."

Freddie Roach has said Khan will knock Paulie out within 3 rounds. I myself don't see that happening. Does anybody else?

Hm. 3-7 rounds at most. You need to see that Paulie's resistance doesn't seem as good as it was. And if you've been keeping up with Paulie then you'll know he's a bit weak in the body.

Khan's been learning to cut off the ring and concentrate on body attacks in a big way. Check the recent workout they done on boxing scene.

They know what to expect and I'm not suprised they've said that. A good chin is a good chin, but no matter how good it is, you can't keep taking flush shots, especially from a guy like Khan.

So I'll think you'll be surprised on Saturday night.

I can't see it, but Roach can be uncanny with his predictions. Don't forget Hatton had Paulie reeling very early in their fight. People give Malignaggi too much credit for getting beat up by Cotto for 12 rounds. Cotto was dead at the weight at that stage and that was his last 140 fight. Khan could conceivably overwhelm Paulie and TKO him early, but I don't think it will come from a single shot.

No I don't. If Khan is to win, it'll be by points. Not only has Paulie got a solid chin, but he's got great footwork which he sometimes uses to be evasive. Khan may be chasing and missing a lot of shots in this one, as this won't be stationary target like Kotelnik.

Khan should win on points. He was matched with Malignaggi because he is not a puncher.

Just seen that new training video on BS. Khan has seriously developed a bit of firepower now.

Yeah agreed with the comments above. Once Hatton tagged him, Paulie did sort of just stop trying in my opinion although he does blame that on his trainer which I don't know...

And yeah, Khan will have to move around quickly and catch Paulie, lets see if he has learnt to cut down the ring well enough.

And maybe we are all wrong and Khan is actually developing some serious power, who knows?

Overall, I am really hyped up for this fight. I can't wait to see how Khan is developing under Freddie Roach or how he deals with a real and live world class opponent. In a strange way, who-ever loses this fight, I think there career takes a nasty turn for the worst, although many people expect Paulie to lose anyway, so I guess him losing won't be so bad but I do believe this is his only chance at a world title and as for Khan losing, well that would suck lol.

We will see how good Khan is as soon as he steps in with a puncher? Now unless Amir has had a chin transplant he will get sparked again.

I think this chin **** about Khan is a bit over the top to be honest. If you look at his body now...in a none gay way, you can see that its built up different he has lost a lot of the muscle in his arms and shoulders and its in his legs now, there were a number of things that made his chin worse, but overall, I think he still would of got knocked out by Prescott regardless, it wasn't his chin that lost him that fight, it was his stupidity of standing in the pocket of a puncher like that.

However, I don't expect Khan to make that mistake again, his guard is high and tight and he knows how to get his punches of quickly and then step out of range. If he gets tagged, he gets tagged, you know, that's it. But as I said, I just don't think his chin as as bad as everybody makes out, obviously it isn't granite but still...

Agree. Im not a fan of Khan but im sure his chin cant be as bad as its looked at LW, simply because i dont think anyone's chin can be that bad.

Cotto was dropped by Torres and put on ***** street by Corley and his chin has looked a lot stronger since he moved up, Khan should never have fought at LW and that may have been weakening him imo, even DLH was dropped early in his career for draining his body to get down to a weight that he should not have been fighting in.

Khan will never have a good chin but i dont think Paulie is the man to crack it.

As easily as someone can say the chin **** is over the top, someone can easily say that the Hatton loss is a bit over the top too. He was under the tutelege of a very poor trainer in Buddy McGirt.

His new trainer re-invigorated his older style.

Khan STILL can't fight in the pocket and Paulie is quite good at it. His footwork and lateral movement are good enough to dodge the heavier bullets and he's got a solid chin. I also think Khan's chin is weak as ****. Look at the shot he took from a blown up Barrera. He was a bit wobbled. He fought Kotelnik a bit scared and we haven't learned **** about him in the Salita fight. So it's hard to REALLY see if he's progressed or not.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Paulie actually has Khan hurt a few times. But in all honesty I think Khan's gonna get shafted in a close but well earned victory that goes to Paulie.
