    4.

How can you have Penn above him when he just lost to Frankie Edgar? Shogun just beat a high level p4p guy the same weight as him.

cuz shogun hasn't dominated his weight class yet like penn has before he loss to edgar. Before losing to edgar penn has won 4 in a row at 155, his only other loss is against gsp at 170.

Shogun is 3-2 in his last 5 and 2 of those wins are against past prime liddell and coleman. Don't get me wrong, shogun could probably end up as # 1 P4P in the future but for now, i can't put him above Bj just cuz bj has dominated his weight class. The other 3 have done the same thing.

Shoguns GP performances and overall resume are better than Penn's resume IMO. Penn might have better natural abilities in certain areas, but Shogun on his best day is better than Penn on his best. a motivated Shogun is just bad news for the other guy in the fight.

Probably at #4 after Fedor, GSP and Silva. Edgar at 5, Penn at 6.

I want to see Edgar and Shogun avenge their losses to restore some sense of invincibility.

    5th.

    1.Fedor, 2.GSP, 3.Silva, 4.Penn, 5.Rua

If Penn loses the Edgar rematch, he disappears off the p4p radar. As things stand, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because he has a longer and more impressive winning streak than Rua, and I believe he'll wipe the floor with Edgar next time out.

Penn (one of my fav`s actually) should not be ahead of Shogun at this moment in time, look at both guys recent fights for proof.

    Fedor is no1, I agree.

Silva, GSP & Shogun can go in any order to make up the top 4 so if you swap Penn & Shogun around Id say its pretty hard to fault your top 5.

Ps. You have to remember that Shogun is currently the no1 fighter in the hottest division in MMA, the LHWs.... but Im satisfied that he is 4th right now, anywhere between 1 & 5 is acceptable IMO.

I believe he`ll **** Edgar up next time out & I`ll be rooting for him to do so as I like him a lot & I see him as thee greatest ever LW that ever lived by some distance but Shogun beating (twice really) a man that had never even lost a rd before in UFC (Machida of course) in his last 2 fights, a man that was at least no4 on the majority of lists... compare that to Penn`s lethargic performance vs Edgar.

Penn barely hangs on to 5th place & Rua is AT LEAST 4th currently.

Rua is currently the no1 fighter in the toughest division also... & if you are gonna excuse BJ by mentioning his pre Edgar wins then you have to consider Rua`s list of victims in PRIDE too.

true.. shogun could probably end up as the # 1 P4P since 205 is loaded with talent and i think he has a chance to clean the house for now. I can see him defeating rampage-evans winner-- thiago silva-jon jones - lil nog etc.

The biggest challenge would probably come against anderson silva if he moves up.

I hear what you're saying Bill, to have Rua at 4th (or higher even) is certainly valid, but I'm going to stick with him at 5th for now. His resume in Pride is fearsome, but I've always placed great importance on recent form when it comes to the current pound-for-pound rankings, and over the past few fights I've preferred Penn's performances to Rua's - Pride was a long time ago now. Rua is currently ranked the best lightheavy in the world on account of beating one opponent, once he beats some more of the best fighters in the best division in MMA (and for me that's a matter of "when" and not "if" because he is a truly sensational fighting machine) then I will happily place him above Penn and probably Silva as well.
