Strikeforce: Alistair Overeem vs Brett Rogers

I'm really looking forward to this clash of titans at the weekend.

You can't rule out Brett Rogers due his crushing of Andrei Arlovski and his solid performance against Fedor, but against Overeem he comes up short in terms of both striking and submissions.

I see Brett Rogers trying to impose his striking gameplan, perhaps rushing Overeem at the start, and getting KO'd a few minutes into the fight.

But this tyre changer has surprised before.

 

I've Said Rogers TKO in 2 or less since the fight was announced and i feel pretty confident in that outcome.

Overeem should kick Rogers to pieces.

 

Rogers is a green dude with lot's of power in his hands. This is big time now, he's not fighting backyard brawlers anymore, he's fighting the elite. He'll get killed standing up, he'll be crushed on the ground. He has no chance other the same old lucky punch.

 

Wont count out Rogers because his is a powerful puncher and in his only 2 fights agianst top oppostion he handled himself impressivly destroying Arlovski and doing better then most vs Fedor. That said Overeem is a different kind of animal. This guy does have world class striking proved agianst the elites in K-1 like Badr Hari. Overeem has great hands, kicks, knees and his ground game is outstanding, he has great takedowns and submissions especially his Guillotine its very powerful. The only real big knock in his career was his stamina which I hope gets tested because he hasnt seen the 2nd round in MMA in quite some time or atleast to my knowledge he hasnt. I expect a late first or early 2nd round TKO for Overeem.

 

The fact that someone considers/considered Rogers a "titan" in this "clash of titans" is ridiculous.

A Flash KO does not mean they're an elite of elite fighter. Rogers has shown nothing overly substantial or very strongly suggestive of impressive skill.

And never have I seen someone lose a fight and move up in rankings.

The guy is as one dimensional as they come. He's fought two guys worth even mentioning. One was a flash KO, and the other he got KO'd.

The fact that people are touting this guy as the next big thing in the HW division or even considering him in the elite of the division is staggering. By far the most unproven of all the HWs in the Top 10.

Overeem should take this with relative ease.

 

Rogers in no titan or elite fighter but he is a dangerous fighter that cant be argued agianst. Im not crazy this fight is happening but wont ***** about it to much. Just makes no sense me though ill admitt I mean why is Fedor fighting Werdum in June when in May Overeem defends his title vs the guy Fedor just put to sleep :huh It would be like in the NFL the AFC Championship winner plays the NFC Championship loser in the Superbowl.

 

Im not sure he will. Overeem is certainly the more polished striker. But this is MMA not K1. Dont be surprised if even a grazing blow from Rogers crumples Overeems fragile chin and puts him to sleep.

 

Rogers is fat but big and powerful. I think technically Reem is better but he'll have to be smart to defuse Rogers. Good opportunity for both guys to make a statement.

 

This is what I see going down. It's not like Overeem isn't there to be hit and Rogers certainly has KO power. I'm calling it Rogers by KO in round 2 once Overeem gasses.

 

Overeem has a worse chin but is miles technically superior.
